Great family friendly atmosphere. The place was very loud but I didn’t mind. The owner goes around and greets everyone and tries to make them feel at home. By the time you’re done eating you’ll feel like part of the family. The garlic knots were very good. The service is super fast. We got our knots, salad in about 5min after ordering. The pizza came in under 20min. The pizza wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but I’d definitely eat it again. The feel of the place will have me coming back. The prices are very good for what you get. Average large pizza is $ 15-$ 18, other entrees are around $ 10. Appetizers range from $ 5-$ 8.

My family of four came here for dinner tonight and they brought 3 of our meals out. We assumed the 4th was running behind. After some time passed we inquired as to where our 4th order was. The waitress was very indignant and insisted we never ordered a 4th meal. We explained he had in fact ordered a 4th meal, and she pulled out her pad and showed she had only written 3. As if this was some sort of evidence. I explained to her that we all planned to eat as a family and of course ordered 4 meals she very unapologetically said that she would put in the order. She was older, so maybe her age contributed to this error. Still, she was very rude in the way she chose to handle it. My family finished before I ever got my food. In other news, the food was very good, and the place seems very authentic. It seems to be an Italian family running the place. The owner gave us free dessert for his waitress’s error.

Based on the reviews on Unilocal,my husband and I decided to check this place out for lunch today. I never would have thought to stop by otherwise. It was definitely a diamond in the rough. Hidden in an otherwise run-of-the-mill strip mall, it was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is really nice inside, with comfy booths and a warm atmosphere. The food was great. The bread is served with a delicious olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip with fresh garlic and red peppers mixed in. The chopped salad(recommended by our waiter) was delicious. We shared the penne and meatballs, and the sauce was great and the meatballs wonderful. The two cannolis we had for dessert hit the spot. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying some of the more complex menu items when we have more of an appetite.

Driving back home from OBX searched on phone for good restaurants in Apex. Mamma Mia won. Then we won. Mamma Mia sits in a long-in-the-tooth strip shopping center. Once we entered the music, the staff, the menu – everything was great. Wish it were nearby. If you’re near, treat yourself, give it a try.

The best food I have eaten in a long time. I could almost move to the area for food that is prepared fresh every order. Thank goodness my daughter lives in the area. She may be getting more visits, wink wink. Definitely will be going back here to eat!!!

Pizza and garlic knots were very good. Very nice quiet atmosphere and waiter was extremely friendly. For those who love Dr. Pepper they have it here!!! It’s NY style pizza.

This is an excellent place for Italian food. Chicken Parmesan is excellent. This place has very authentic Italian food. I have been here several times and I have always had a great meal. They have amazing appetizers: garlic knots, calamari are both excellent. Mama Mias is in a strip mall, but once you come in for dinner you’ll think you were in Italy.

First of all, the staff was very friendly. It was a little dead for a Friday night at 8pm and I hope that’s not a sign for the worst. I was promptly seated and the host/server/owner? seated me. He was very pleasant and promptly brought some bread and my drink. My garlic knots came out about 5 minutes later and lasagna about 10 – 15 minutes after that. The garlic knots were a little mediocre, but there were a lot of them for the price. I was expecting 3 – 4. I got something more like a dozen smaller ones. The sauce and cheese in the lasagna were great and drink refills came quickly. I will definitively come back. This would be a great date restaurant.

From the outside, this place does not look like much. The service and food however are good. Started with side salads, nothing special, dressings are not made in house which would make a big difference. My family enjoyed their spaghetti with meatballs. I had the Chicken Marsala recommended by the waiter, it was pretty tasty. At the end of the meal, the waiter gave my daughter a free dessert of fried pizza dough with a sugar coating which is surprisingly delicious.

Their chicken piccata is very very good. I’ve had other«authentic» italian pasta here but they weren’t memorable. Pizza is enormous(but taste like totino’s microwave pizza). Coworkers and I went for a 5 course meal & wine tasting. Mediocre food. Chef is a funny guy.

Mamma Mia dishes out some down-home Italian eats! Think of the basics like spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli and pizza in red-sauce and you get the picture. Inside, Mamma Mia’s is really basic with tiled floors and simple décor. The lunch menu is small, about 8 items with salad along with some pizza specials. I order up the baked lasagna and hang loose with a diet Pepsi. 10 minutes later I get a small plate with a longish piece of lasagna about 4″ high. It’s well-layered with good meat sauce, buttery ricotta and a fine example of lasagna. My friend’s pizza is thin-crust and looks pretty good, maybe not the best in the area but a solid rendition of NY pizza. The meal comes out to about $ 12 so it’s not cheap here but about right for decent Italian in an area where it’s mostly about chain restaurants. So go go go, Mamma Mia, you’re name is a bit cheesy but for Italian food, that’s not always a bad thing…
