Been years since we’ve been here but we always remember it with a smile — we weren’t disappointed tonight either! Sat in the family style dining room(they have a steakhouse too and the menu looks fantastic) The usual generous portions for fair price(especially for our 12 year old): served family style(unlimited servings) — chicken thighs, ham, beef ribs, roasted potatoes, stuffing, green beans, camp-style beans, coleslaw and bread. I personally love the raisin bread and prickly pear jelly. The ribs and the great beans are great too. The camp beans are a little sweet for my liking but the coleslaw is right on point. Fun, relaxed setting great for larger groups(saw a few birthday celebrations), and it’s loud enough to help drown out my seriously impatient 20month-old. They were even super kind about it when he pitched some tin-wear across the floor(mortifying!) A family favorite and recommended for both locals and tourists

I grew up visiting after church on Sundays in the mid 1980s. Such memories of this place! Hadn’t visited in at least 20 years, and when I took my family there on vacation, it hadn’t changed! The inside was as amazing as I remembered and so was the food! It was a bit pricey, but worth it for the high quality of food. LOVED the grilled corn and pork chops!

City steak was outstanding, and the shrimp appetizer is not to be missed. This place far exceeded our expectations!

I love this place. We went there for my birthday. Had buffet, a bit pricy, but worthy it. Bread was so fresh. Meat was great. I like ribs. Cookies are wonderful too!

We came to celebrate my Brother-in-laws Birthday which is Feb. 29th. He is deceased and my nephew remembered going with him 35 yrs ago. I came with my parents over 50 yrs ago. I’m glad I won’t be alive 30 years for now if they come back again. We were expecting to have the gold rush experience. Instead we all had a sugar rush instead. If you’re diabetic bring your insulin. The ribs were stringy and full of fat. The sauce tasted like sugar with a dash of ketchup for color and liquid smoke for some flavor. The ham was bad to put it nicely and the pineapple purée was sugar with a tad bit of crushed pineapple. I was only able to get down one bite of the chicken that I think was coated in the canned gravy that they sell two cans for a dollar at the grocery store at Thanksgiving. I’m glad they had lots of napkins at the table because I couldn’t swallow the stuffing. As for the beans… Duke the dog on the Bush’s baked bean commercial didn’t sell them the secret recipe. For dessert we had Mother’s oatmeal cookies. As in the name brand you buy in the store. We had two in our our party that showed up late and they didn’t bring any more food. No problem! it was so bad we still had plenty left. The best part of the whole experience was when my sister told me if she died in the next couple years tell them she really liked What-a-Burger. Laughing about how terrible the food was is the only memorable thing about the experience. Moving on to the ladies restroom. It was clean but 2 of the toilets didn’t flush properly and had toilet paper floating. The good news is one did work.

3 stars is for the atmosphere, concept and service. $ 19.95 for fixed course meal. It’s a big meal but no doggy bags allowed! I wonder what they do with the leftover food. The rib was tasty and tender but I had to fight to take the bone off. I wish it were tender enough to fall off the bone! All the dishes are drenched in sauce that fills you up faster! I had lunch there and live music is only for dinner time?

I’m not a huge fan of family style restaurants, so I was a little nervous for the steakhouse. ITWASAMAZING! The chef, Dennis, greeted us and sat us, and our server, Sue, was great too. But the star of the show was the food. Bread was great with a good spread for it(still have butter, though!). Wife got the ribs and they were really good. Brother in law got the pasta and it was amazing… large shrimp and scallops. Best part… the filet. It was WAY better than those fancy steakhouses and cheaper. Dessert was top notch and scratch made too. Great atmosphere and views(from outside). Would love to see some outdoor dining. Great job guys… and I’m PICKY!

Driving around the area near Apache Junction and The Superstition Mountains we had missed lunch so stopped in for dinner. First, the iced tea was good(not the fake machine crap). They then brought homemade rolls that were probably the best ever .Oh my gosh!! So good !! My husband had the prime rib French dip and I had a pulled pork sandwich. They were both very good. It looked like they had a dinner show too. A cute gift shop and western themed. We were in a hurry so didn’t get to check it out. This restaurant is at the base of the mountain so the view is amazing ! Loved it ! Would absolutely go again !

What a disappointment !!! Went New Years Eve looking for something different and special. Well we got it. The food was awful and freezing cold. The entertainment was worse. Our waitress was ok and did her best. Take the Oprey over this place.

Interesting place. good food. Service was terrible. First the server nearly dumped a plate of ribs on one of us and on her next trip to the table she dumped wine glasses full of wine. The manager was on top of it and tried to help. When bill came wine and ribs wine had been spilt on we’re still on bill. There was no offer to pay for cleaning.

First off let me say that we come here every year for Thanksgiving because it has become a tradition in our family. We have have always been pleased with everything in the past but this year was truly awful. Our waitress was extremely rude, and literally did nothing more than bring out the main course. 4 times I got up to ask for more water and I ended up being the one getting refills for my families iced teas. 3 times up to the service window for butter and once for more rolls. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had. I don’t mind paying 20.00 a head for a party of 12 as long as it’s enjoyable, this experience was not and will have me thinking about where we will be going next year.

horrible customer service !! With the exception of the two ladies up front. We had never been there before, we arrived at 1:41pm and around 20 to 30 minutes later the Server stopped by again asking us what we had ordered, confused. Not to mention he did not write down what we ordered the first time. An hour passed, meanwhile people around us got their food within 15 minutes. Finally we decide to ask, and after asking the server seemed confused. We did ask for a manager, and attempted to provide feedback, however was not willing to listen to us. And pretty much called us liars… Food was ok, service not so good :-/

Good experience, ok food. Did family style meal. Ribs were drenched in sauce… way too much. Chicken and dressing good. Ham nothing to write home about. Cookie for desert was good. You get plenty of food for he money but it is mediocre food. Restaurant and experience was nice. Good for one time but probably try somewhere else next time.

Delicious food! The prime rib is amazing, and I highly recommend it. We went for our anniversary, they were amazing, very attentive, the food was awesome as always and got a fee desert to share, my favorite one too. I love this place, it is worth the drive, they have delicious food, the setting is beautiful, the view is breathtaking and its just an all around great time. Can’t wait to try the dinner show, it sounds amazing!

We came here at the urging of an advertisement our 4 year old saw in an online commercial — so our expectations were not über high. We drove out to Apache Junction, which was fun for us since we’ve never been out this way. We pull up to the restaurant and it is like a mini old west town. Our kids were in love. We purchased the dinner/show tickets and while we waited for our allotted time we enjoyed looking at the old wagons, train cars, and taking in the mountain back drop. We entered and were greeted by the friendly hostess and then perused the gift shop. We were seated and our eyes were immediately drawn to the metal cups and plates. The seating is at picnic style tables, so if this place is busy you might be seated closely to some strangers. Fortunately, the place was at about half capacity so we had plenty of room. The dinner/show plan has you eating for the first hour and then the show follows(about $ 27 adult $ 172 – 12 yrs). The food is served family style. We dined on ribs, chicken, and ham. These were accompanied by dressing, coleslaw, green beans, baked beans, oven potatoes and tasty rolls(sourdough and raisin bread). The food was pretty tasty other than the ribs were drenched in BBQ sauce — which I normally love, however this was too much for even me. Our kids ate up everything on their plate and were able to have one of the tasty oatmeal raisin cookies served for dessert. The service was really great and we felt well attended to. The show we saw was the McNasty Brothers Band which was a mix of music and humor. They honestly had me rolling on the floor laughing but their humor might not be for every one — it was so corny. Music was really great and it had us dancing(in our seats!) and tapping our toes. The only«ding» I can think of — the drinks do not come included in the meal and must be purchased separately($ 2.50) — I’d rather pay $ 30 and just have it included, but that’s just me. That’s just me being nit-picky, though. Would we return? Well, our daughter wanted to stay for the show that started immediately after this one — so, I’m guessing she would vote a resounding YES! Yee-Haw!

I was hiking the superstition Mountains(siphon draw to flat iron) and after a 9 mile hike I decided to stop in the mining Camp restaurant to get what I thought would be a subpar meal. Boy was I wrong… The food and service year was absolutely spectacular! I have the stew as an appetizer and the fillet for dinner! Really fantastic!
