I’m really sorry I’m leaving this review, because, up until now, I’ve thought this place was underrated. Being next door to Vegas has to be a pain, because Vegas is just like The Vault, except better in every way. Wouldn’t that little fact drive you to be better? If you find yourself here for some reason, or while Vegas is under Reno, stick to something simple. Like eggs and bacon. I’m so embarrassed for them to be describing the«original eggs Benedict» I had where they substituted what seemed to be bagged cheddar for the hollandaise sauce, and something resembling a Kraft single underneath. When I first saw it, I was grossed out, but thought I should not knock until I try it. I tried it and scraped off as much cheese as I could, and ate the rest. If I wasn’t so polite, I would have recommended that they never ever EVER make that dish ever again! The Vault needs to dramatically improve if it wants to survive it’s own 2nd coming. *edit — they’re closed for good it looks like. Mauri’s is moving in. I’ve been to his location in Mundelein many times. Vegas will have some competition.

Very disappointing. I had a skillet which was so nasty I could not finish it. The hash browns were old and extremely greasy. Tasted like they had been used for another dish previously. My husband had steak and eggs. His hash browns were also gross. I was sicker than a dog the rest of the day. The place looked clean. The coffee was great. The server was very nice and attentive. Prices are reasonable, it was 28 for three of us to eat. Based on the food, I will not go back to this place.

The soup was delish, cream of spinach. The rest of the meal? eh. Hubs had a patty melt — which was well done(not that they ask), and fries. Unsalted, btw. I had the deep fried shrimp dinner, had to ask for cocktail sauce, and it came with the most horrid plate of vegetables ever seen outside a high school cafeteria. Either canned or way overcooked green beans and corn. We did get a freshly baked bread and butter with our soups, which was apparently unlimited. The interior reminded me of a double wide mobile home in the late 80’s, very Home Interior-ish. They have an AYCE fish fry on Fridays, which I might be talked into. Otherwise, if your family restaurant must be sated, wander down the block to Las Vegas. Wish I would have!

Not a good idea to eat here unless you like high sodium food from a can. The cost is cheap but its not worth it. I did not even eat my food from this place after one bite. Yuck.

A typical dinner type place in the Northern Sub-burbs of Chicago. The wait staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is simple, but warm and the food is comforting. Granted, probably not a health nut type of place, and leans towards the greasy spoon… but nonetheless, they serve up a good product.
