Mr & Mrs Empanada LLC

What an absolute delight! Three of us ate for $ 20 and the empanadas were delicious! When I asked my daughter if she liked them she said, «NO! I LOVE them!» We’ll definitely be back!

Mr. and Mrs. Empanada just blew my mind!!!
I started with some warm Pan de Bono, a soft Latin American bread made with tapioca flour to make it extra chewy. That was a great start! And then … I had the empanadas!
I started with the chicken and potato version inside a corn-​based dough made fresh on the spot and deep fried to the crispiness of fried chicken! Oh man! Heaven!!! Then I tried the broccoli and cheese upon the owner’s request. Oh my goodness!!! That was pure perfection!
As my father the chef taught me, quality cheese should actually stretch while low quality cheese does not (microwaveable cheese sticks, fast food cheese bites, anything at Domino’s Pizza). The cheese at Mr. and Mrs. Empanada stretches, really far!!! Mmm mmm!
It might be intimidating to walk up to the counter at Mr. and Mrs. E’s because most of the patrons in the food court are Hispanic and most people ordering empanadas are speaking rapid-​fire Spanish to the employees. You don’t want to be the Caucasian dork that asks «what’s an empanada? What are arepas? What does that taste like?»
Fear not! The owner immediately greeted me and, without being prompted, began explaining everything they served and what it tasted like. He was so gracious! They will welcome you with open arms and excessive patience while you decide what to eat. I didn’t tell him I grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood in Los Angeles and knew exactly what an empanada was. :)
You wouldn’t think to walk inside the nearly vacant Global Mall (once the bustling Hickory Hollow Mall) to find lunch or dinner. But their food court is slowly approaching 50% occupancy, making a gradual comeback. And this place is certainly one of the highlights!!!

So good! I’m half Colombian and this food rivals my mom’s food. Next time I’m missing my mom’s cooking I’ll definitely be visiting Mr and Mrs. Empanada. I got the Bandeja paisa this time and it was delicious, will be back to try their empanadas!

Their food is awesome. They make it fresh, so you’ll wait 18 – 20 minutes. Everything we tried was delicious. Try the guava milkshake! SO good!

These empanadas are amazing. The owners are so nice and friendly. I absolutely love this place. The only thing I would change is the location. I would love to see them in east Nashville. I think they would thrive there. I worry in the hickory hollow location they won’t survive. Hopefully I’m wrong though. The food is awesome.

Best corn empanadas and delicious mango/​pineapple smoothie-​drink (made with carnation and frozen fruit).

I’m slowly becoming a regular at Mr and Mrs Empanada– the food is the perfect combination of affordable and delicious. Their family specials are a great deal– two empanadas and a soda for 3.50. They offer both corn and wheat empanadas; I’ve had the cheese, beef, and chicken corn empanadas and the cuban and guava/​cheese empanadas. Everything I’ve had thus far has been delicious.
While I haven’t tried the other items on their menu yet, my coworker said he got kabobs from them today and that they were good. I’ve seen some people order these amazing looking fruit drinks as well and I look forward to sampling them.
Service is very friendly and reasonably quick! The Global Mall is kind of a weird spot BC its essentially a ghost town, but it’s convenient to the Southeast Branch Library and the Southeast Nashville State Campus. If you live in the area or spend a lot of time at either of those places, you should definitely check out Mr and Mrs Empanada.

Mr&Mrs empanadas is a great food experience for everyone! Don’t be fooled this is not just a place for Spanish food! These empanadas and the entire menu is terrific and I recommend American folks give it a try because you will get hooked on the delicious taste and kids love the empanadas and it’s a fun low cost meal for the entire family!!!
