Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve

Hands down, Black Diamond & Contra Loma are by far the best things Antioch has to offer. I’ve been living here for 15 years, and while I’m not crazy about Antioch the city, one of the reasons I refuse to move is that I live less than a 5-​minute drive to the Contra Loma park entrance and a 12-​minute drive to the Black Diamond entrance.
I literally take my dogs to BD or CL daily, usually twice a day, and have been doing so for the past several years. So beautiful with so many trails to take your dogs off-​leash. BD is generally uncrowded. I usually get there between 9−11am and usually never see anybody on any of my hikes on weekdays and rarely just a few people on weekends.
