Betty’s is always packed at lunch but regardless you normally get seated as soon as you walk in the door. The staff is super friendly, and you never have to look for your server. The BBQ and lunch specials are above average, which makes it better than most of competition in the area. You can’t really go wrong with anything you order, but the coleslaw isn’t my favorite. It’s finely minced and too sweet for my taste. 4 stars for service and consistency.

After it being highly recommended by locals we tried this Hometown BBQ Restaurant out. Ordered Pulled Pork Sandwich… Expected better from Alabama.

Nice folks here. Pretty decent food. But be warned… this is not a BBQ place. The pork was not pulled pork but chopped… with no bark or smoke. Can’t be sure but if it was bbq(slow smoked) they managed to remove all traces. Other items were just fine AND one of the few places that still serve good hush puppies.

No idea why this place was as packed as it was. Weak sauce, and very poor pork with rubbery beans and corn that were out to the table less than five minutes after we ordered. I appreciate speed, but there didn’t seem to be any pride in the quality you put on the plate. Service was decent but I’ve had better BBQ at a Shoney’s.

What can I say, Betty’s is a institution. I have been away for a time but just recently rediscovered Betty’s Bbq. The sign was enough to bring back memories from my youth. Goal Post. Hats off for the renovation ! Fried green tomatoes are the best I have ever had. Bbq is the best in Calhoun County. I tell you to step up and go with the open face roast beef with a side of the green tomatoes. If you do feel free to thank me.

Great BBQ joint. The place has a really hometown atmosphere. Nice decorations and plenty of seating. The food was good; portion size was very generous. The pork wasn’t the best I’d ever had but that maybe because it seemed more chopped than shredded(of the two I’m partial to the latter). The fried chicken was great so my brother told me. All in all, I’d definitely come back. Great food, great quantity and for a great price. Don’t forget to order sweet tea either! It’s southern as a bell!

I’ve been going to Betty’s FOREVER! I love them! The food is so good and definitely is southern home cooking. I usually get their chicken livers smothered in gravy and onions, fried green tomatoes, and mac-n-cheese. Umm, can you say delicious? And their cobbler is to die for! The waitresses are very nice and I always feel welcomed. Only thing I don’t like is that, every time I go in there, it seems as though they change their prices. But other than that, I’d recommend Betty’s to anyone who asks about it!

I typically don’t take the time to review anything, but good lord I had to make time for Betty’s. I was passing through Anniston with one of my employees to meet with a few executives at a Memphis based client. His friend recommended the place based on stopping there for years when he visits for the race. Best food decision I’ve made in a long time, and best down home cooking I’ve had since my family reunion. Best people too. When we arrived, the greeter apologized that their CC machine was down due to AT&T outage, and could only take cash or checks. My friend and I looked at each other disappointed as neither of us were carrying more than a couple dollars. When we shrugged and started to leave, the owner who was sitting at one of the tables said«we don’t turn away customers» and offered to feed us on the house. We were standing there in disbelief. We were hesitant, but sat down. I figured I’d run out to a bank machine and grab cash while we waited on the food. On to the food… Had their BBQ plate with 3 sides, DDFGT(double dipped fried green tomatoes), green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I followed that with their lemon ice box pie. I could barely stand after cleaning my plate, but it was all worth the misery! The food was so good, that we decided to stop back in on the way home to Atlanta. This time I had the sampler platter with BBQ, fried catfish, Chicken, and three sides(GB again, DDFGT again, and macaroni and cheese. Had to have the pie again. All of was nothing but fantastic. On the service… Patty on the first night, Kristen on the second, with a dose of the lady that cooks, and the owner(Betty’s daughter, Betty I believe is retired). I have never met kinder and more generous folks, had this level of hospitality matched with terrific food before in all my years of travel. Do yourself a favor and stop by Betty’s if you ever have the chance. Don’t forget the pie. Betty’s Team — if you read this, thanks again. Going to try and bring my mother over to Anniston when she visits for Thanksgiving. Missing the food already even though I need hours on the treadmill to cut the pounds I packed on in two days :-)

I has the meatloaf and it didn’t disappoint. Great service. Food came out very very quick and hot. Overall great experience. If you do visit Jacksonville Alabama this is the place to go for lunch.

Yikes. I’m flexible with food but this was not good. BBQ plate with two sides. Only thing worth eating was the fried green tomatoes. BBQ pork was over dressed with sauce that tasted like it came from a bottle. Cole slaw was NOT homemade which is inexcusable for a BBQ joint. Waitress(very sweet and kind) added a slice of tomato and a slab if raw onion. Tomato was fresh. Onion was cut upwards to three days ago. I know. I eat a LOT if them. I did not eat this one. Wow. Food came out 1 minute after I ordered. I wish they had taken their time and put some pride behind the plate(plastic plate with dividers) presentation. I would have sent plate back if I thought I would get something different/better. Avoid Betty’s when you are in Anniston.

The BBQ was pretty good. Honestly I’d lean more towards three stars, but gave it four stars because we enjoyed our waitress who made fun of us and gave us a hard time. She was a crack up. The BBQ pork was good, a little dry but nothing a little extra BBQ couldn’t fix. Teh ribs were meh and were just too dry to recommend. The catfish was tasty. The baked beans were delish and the macaroni & cheese was less than stellar.
