Went with a girlfriend on a week night and sat at the rooftop bar at a hightop table. We didn’t need reso’s there happened to be an open table for us! Very cool atmosphere! We shared a few appetizers and had some cocktails. They were all great! Drinks were very creative and the food is somewhat like Tapas. Small Sharing plates at cheap prices. I’d love go go again! They had burgers and fries for about 4 dollars! Will definitely go back to try more food!

This seems to be primarily a bar/lounge targeting young professionals. On a Friday night, the rooftop bar was full, but one could get seated in the dining section without reservations. While food isn’t the primary attraction of this place, it wasn’t bad. I ordered the tiradito appetizer: a plateful of generously sliced tuna garnished with a pleasant herbs-and-citrus dressing. It felt a little flat because the tuna lacked flavor. My next dish was the baja fish taco. Again, the dish would improve if it had bolder flavors. For the sides, get the spicy roasted almonds but pass on the yuca fries(golden thick wedges that look great but taste of dry starch). In terms of the bang for your buck, the desserts offer low returns. Friendly, helpful wait-staff.

I was headed in this direction months ago… until a quick Unilocaling suggested a u-turn. Alas, the visions of cool margaritas on a balmy summer night was too strong to overcome. Was it memorable in either extreme? No, but I’d go back in the right circumstances(great weather, with a group). On the high side: pupusas with spicy slaw, an El Salvadoran staple that is usually a little on the boring side but with the slaw is a great wake-up to the palate; On the eh side: Anticuchos(think Satay w/o peanut sauce), dry and listless; queso fundido with chorizo, had that patina of scum on top reminiscent of ballpark fake cheese and the chorizo lacked any real punch; sliced chorizo and mancheso cheese board(here the role of chorizo was played by microwave-warmed cardboard). The iconic margarita? Eh. Take half the tequila that the Mex Café puts in this one to cut the sweetness and it’d probably be okay. Chips? Very good. Salsa? Not bad. You probably wouldn’t go back for the food or drinks, but the gestalt somehow works… and I can’t figure out why!

I went here for dinner with a friend on a Friday night. The atmosphere was nice, I loved the décor. We went to the roof top and had dinner at the bar. We ordered the special, soft shell crab tacos, and let me tell you they were AMAZING! We were in Heaven! They were delicious. All of the ingredients were fresh, and they didn’t skimp you on the crab. I crave these things now! Overall the food was great, the service was a little slow… I will probably venture back for some of those soft shell crab tacos!

The reason why this place doesn’t feel«new», as previous posters mentioned, is because this property has gone through three name changes in quite a short period of time. It debuted as the«Metropolitan» Annapolis’s answer to a sophisticated Manhattan style eatery/bar. After that didn’t work out, it opened as Jerry’s Seafood«home of the crab bomb».(Nothing right with that decision, and what was the marketing team ingesting when they coined the term bomb?) Anyway, poof, and the Latin Quarter appears. A couple gallons of paint, some new accessories and we have a new restaurant. We went for some munchies and some drinks just to check the place out. We opted to climb the three floors to the roof top area. It was OK, the couchy areas looked a bit tired(perhaps garnered from a Metropolitan/Jerry’s fire sale?) Anyway it was packed and it looked like folks were having fun. I have to agree with Bernadette about the chips and salsa. We found them to be really really good and couldn’t stop munching them. Ordered the guacamole and at first wanted to only order half a portion but went with the full. Glad we did as the grande version was tiny. It didn’t seem to have anything in it but avocado, but at least it tasted very fresh so mixed with the salsa it ended up being a delicious treat. Servers were very young and a bit rough around the edges. All I could do was stare at the empty donut holes in our waiter’s ears. He must have forgotten whatever it is he puts in there. As the sun set, the young woman servers scampered about on all the upholstered couches to plug in the colored weary looking lights that were strung over the tables. Considering most folks seemed pretty smartly dressed, I can’t imagine they would want to sit where a foot was minutes before. I perused the large laminated menu and it didn’t draw me in. Nothing about the look or content of the menu said original. It seemed like they needed to do a quick turnover on the place and it showed. Authentic Mexican/Latin food is so diverse, flavorful, and utilizes so many awesome ingredients. Why oh why can’t any one trust that the local palates can handle something other then Chi-Chi’s style Tex-Mex? Rick Bayless, Annapolis needs you!

I couldn’t really read through all the reviews but they appear to be overly picking on the place. I went to Latin Quarter for a dinner a few weeks ago and I’ll tell you I had a positive experience. The chips and salsa starters were good. And I thought the plantains and fish tacos were tasty. The menu has a number of items I want to try, that don’t seem to be in overabundance in Annapolis, such as two different types of ceviche, rockfish taquitos, queso fundido, and empanadas. Empanadas in Annapolis? Great. So some complaints… this is a new place and I will make an exception for the inconsistent service. There was no greeting upon entrance — but it was busy — and some of the staff seemed new. One woman seemed to do it all: she sat my party, took our orders, and brought us drinks. Another girl’s sole job seemed to be wiping tables. One guy seemed to be waiting tables for the second floor, while the owner was kindly meeting and greeting guests. But I’ll return for the food, and hopefully a more adjusted, and experienced wait staff.

This place opened up sometime last month, but I finally got around to trying it today. Based on the name you would guess that it is Latin food, but the website wasn’t fully functional when I checked out, so I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to be in for. This place is on West Street next to Lemongrass(the same people own both restaurants) in the place where Jerry’s the crab bomb place used to be. They have both up and downstairs seating. We went upstairs. Our server showed us to the tables and let us pick. They have some couches and things up there, but we opted for the more traditional table. The table we sat at, however, was wobbly so we moved. Our new table was not wobbly, but the chairs were odd. They appeared to be made of rope and were not particularly comfortable. That being said, it wasn’t that big of a deal. Our server was friendly and professional. No complaints there. We started off with a couple of margaritas. They were actually pretty big for only $ 5. They brought us some chips and salsa. The salsa was decent. We ordered a some guacamole to give that a try with the chips. It was pretty average. A little bland and the texture was a little to creamy. I like my guac to be a little thicker and chunkier. But it was not horrible. The dinner menu had some decent options. They had various burrito and taco options. They had a few vegetarian options. They had a pressed Cuban. They had BBQ pulled pork torta that sounded interesting. They had a couple of different types of empanadas. My SO went for the fish tacos. I opted for their beef and chorizo burger. From the get go I was excited about this burger. I love chorizo. This burger is 1⁄3 chorizo and 2⁄3 beef. It comes on a regular bun and is topped with cheese, red onions and sliced avacado. This was the bright spot of the meal. It was actually very tasty. The chorizo really came through and gave the burger some heat and an overall very unique flavor. It was a bit on the small side, but I am not a big fan of the ½ pound burger craze anyway. This was probably closer to ¼ pound. It came with a side of fries, but they were pretty mundane. For dessert I wanted to try their flan. Apparently it was a mocha flan. When I looked at the menu, I didn’t remember seeing the mocha part. If I would have, I may have passed and went for the churro. The chocolate flan wasn’t very appetizing. It was like chocolate mousse maybe. It was pretty bitter tasting. There was something that looked like caramel around it, but it was flavorless. I think it was just condensation from the dessert. I was looking forward to just a normal caramel flan. What they sent me was pretty disappointing. Overall, it was a decent experience. The margaritas were reasonable, but some things on the menu were a little pricey. My burger was reasonably priced. I will probably go back as it is fairly close to my home and work.

I was expecting the worst from the 3 reviews before me. But when we showed up on Saturday, I was not horrified. We arrived around 7pm on Friday evening, and they had a pretty good crowd. The cocktail menu was pretty inventive and we were warmly received. We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to seat our party of six without a problem(although, the place was full when we left). The décor was simple, an outsiders attempt at Latin American, maybe, but not unappealing. I don’t know if things have pulled together a bit since they first opened, but I thought their chips and salsa were one of the best things I had all night! Maybe, based on prior scathing reviews, they started making homemade chips — because they were AWESOME. Appetizers: Guacamole(not very good) Spinach and Goat Cheese Empanadas(would order again) Chicken Anticuchos(maybe the best thing we had all night, tied with chips and salsa) Mains: Baja fish tacos(awesome) Yellowtail tocos(not as good as the aforementioned fried fish tacos, shocking) pressed cuban sandwich(husband and friend were not impressed) Sides: Dirty Rice(good) fried sweet plantains(Terrible. They were not ripe. please TRY your produce before you cook with it) We were all pretty stuffed, so we didn’t stay for dessert. But it was reasonable… in the end, $ 60/couple, including drinks! I don’t think that’s bad for 3 apps, 6 mains, 2 sides, tons of beers and some cocktails. Only because someone earlier commented on a chair that broke… well, while we were there, a few girls were sitting on a couch that broke in the middle of the evening. Three girls tumbled to their tooshies — Super embarrassing. Still, I’d go back with friends, but it’s not a standout in the Annapolis dining scene. The food needs tweaking, and the service needs consistency… then maybe they’d be closer to four stars.
