While on the cute and charming and bustling Annapolis waterfront, I wanted a sweet treat that was local, fresh-made, and one-of-a-kind. Enter Firenze’s Gelateria, which is located INSIDE the Market Space building, among other unique and local food stands. There’s absolutely no shortage of fresh and appealing-looking gelato flavors on display — anything from traditional chocolate/strawberry/vanilla varieties to more adventurous Nutella or coffee-style creations. However, what really makes Firenze’s stand out from other gelato shops(not to mention the overrun ice cream parlors nearby) is their selection of Peruvian-inspired flavors(yep!) such as Lucuma, an orange-colored fruit that has a very pumpkin spice/sweet potato flavor to it — yum! There are also combo flavors, such as Peanut Butter Oreo! Prices are in line with other gelato shops such as Pitango or Dolcezza, only at Firenze’s, the nice employee jammed two whole scoops into a «small» cup as opposed to the«split» most other gelato shops give you when you order a small. I had the Lucuma and PB Oreo, and my hubby had the Nutella and Coconut. The gelato was as I expected — rich, fresh-tasting, awesome mouth-feel, and no sticky-sweet aftertaste. They also have espresso, affogatto, and apparently sometimes they have empanadas too for a savory treat! There are a few counter-type spaces to sit inside Market Space, but I think it’s preferable to take your gelato to-go and go for a walk around the waterfront, window shop, and people watch.

Instead of the usual ice cream, the gelato ice cream is awesomely refreshing! Zach, the server, is great, friendly and let you taste anything you want before committing to your new favorite ice cream. Gelato! Conveniently in the Marketplace building.
