Inova Women’s and Children’s Center

We came to the ER and they were so efficient. And even the doctors were friendly and efficient.
Overall, I do not have any complaints about this hospital and they really fulfilled our needs and took care of my husband really well.

Wound up in the ER at Reston hospital and spent a good 8 hours there, miserable. Ended up needing surgery at Fairfax and the difference between the care and attention and efficiency of the two hospitals is astronomical. The experience I had at Fairfax was a million times better than what I experienced at Reston and if I can help it will never go there again and try to come here, even though its in the worst location possible. For whatever reason, all the hospital buildings have different exteriors and made it unbearably hard to find so that knocks it down a star unfortunately (this was with the assistance of THREE GPS’s) and no enormous sign to spot from the absurd traffic that is Gallows road.
But once we were inside it was smooth sailing from there. We got checked in by a very helpful and pleasant man, who took us up to the women’s surgery waiting area. I was brought back in less than 20 minutes to prep for surgery. They had asked us to arrive 2 ½ hours prior to surgery which we were unhappy about, but it ended up being a major blessing because they somehow made it ahead of their own schedule and my surgery was done and we were headed home before my original start time! I was so thrilled to not have to deal with major rush hour traffic on the way home due to this.
The nurses and staff were amazing. They were so friendly, sympathetic, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I wasn’t nervous at all going in! There was no shortage of staff and at one point I had about 5 people in my tiny room, which probably accounted for being ahead of schedule because everyone was focused on doing their jobs while being chatty with me and it just made such a difference to me.

Good use of technology to facilitate communication with people waiting for patients. Patients are assigned a number and there’s a board in the lobby that tracks the patients using an idiot proof color coding system. It was great, there was no wondering where the patient was at any time. It’s almost as good as tracking your Dominos pizza being cooked and delivered online. It would be cool if they had an app that you could interface your smart phone with the board (like with Metro or NY MTA). I got conflicting info from the front desk staff so taking the human element out of miscommunication seems like a great idea.

Went to the ATC for an emergency with my pregnancy. Lata, the office manager, was lovely, fit us in quickly and helped sort out all of the paperwork. The medical team was great, thorough and caring.

Very good experience here, from start to finish. Quick check-​in, capable and friendly staff. The PACU nurse was very good, never making me feel rushed to leave (though I was ready to go home as soon as I opened my eyes, I think) and made sure my husband’s questions were all answered. Thankfully I didn’t have to stay overnight so can’t speak to that, but for an outpatient procedure it was excellent.
