Saw the top doc in this practice, Dr. Poretz. Unfortunately he was lousy. I made the mistake of telling him I had been sick for a year since not being treated for Lyme. «Lyme is not a disease,» was his first comment. Really? Seriously? He told me my chronic fever and vomiting was probably psychological, not real. Told me to go back to the primary care and ask for a particular test (but he wouldn’t order it! and the primary care said the insurance company required an infectious disease doctor write for that test. Hmm. He wouldn’t even write down the name of the test. Told me my MRSA infection would be cured or controlled by the use of Purell. Ha ha. Ended up in the hospital at a cost of $ 4K to me, when he could have ordered a damn test. Don’t go to this guy or his practice EVER if you value your life. I almost died from an infection he could have identified with a single blood test. And he’s rude to top it all off. Actually rolled his eyes when I started vomiting in front of him. Told me lots of people run fevers for «years with no ill effects.» REALLY? Then why in the heck was my primary care so worried? I’d lost fifty pounds from being sick (one third of my body weight) and he said,“oh you probably needed to lose weight.” Turns out he is one of the big wheels that believes Lyme doesn’t exist. Do not expect him to help you. In other words, to quote Dante, he should have a sign over his door that says «Abandon all hope ye who enter here.» He should go into business as an undertaker. Sorry, but true.
