I worked with Mark Urban at Urban Jewlers to make a new wedding band for me as my stones were coming loose from my band and engagement rings that I had gotten from a different Jewler.
I brought my wedding and engagement rings in and he looked them over and I told him I wanted to use my stones to create 1 new band. I gave him my ideas and he was very receptive to them. He drew a sketch of the ring and gave me an estimate of the cost (which I thought was very reasonable). A few weeks later he called me in to check it out in the wax form with the stones in it so I could to see if I wanted to make changes, however, It was so cool looking even then! He told me he would call me in a few more weeks when it was completely done. When I went back to get it, I was thrilled. It looked amazing! I’m so glad I went to them as they were all so easy to work. I will definitely go to them again.

Well, Urban nailed it, again! I wanted to get a custom wedding band to fit nicely next to the engagement ring we had made, otherwise they wouldn’t sit flush and I would have a huge gap between the two. We sat down with Tom and discussed what I wanted and what he would be able to do. We left my engagement ring with the store and returned about a week later to retrieve it and see how things we progressing.
First of all, they cleaned the engagement ring beautifully for me. Every time I get it cleaned I’m in awe of how beautiful it is.
Secondly, Tom made us a few wax molds for us to pick from which was so nice, as we were only expecting one.
This time, communication was much better and they also gave a better estimate for when I could expect the piece to be ready. The band turned out great and I love that i can wear it alone even though it has a slight curve at the top.

Their expert goldsmith took great care in repairing, sizing, and reinforcing my vintage engagement ring. His attention to detail and craftsmanship are impeccable. The design consultant who helped me, Cheryl Urban, is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. She made certain I received the exact services I needed and that my ring was ready on the promised date. My ring is strong now, beautiful and perfect. I am so pleased.

I never let anyone touch my jewelry except for the original jeweler. I am just cautious. We move to Ann Arbor and I have to find someone to take a look at my rings because my wedding ring has been hit too many times and feels a bit rough. Hubby takes in all my rings to have checked out. Hubby picks up the rings a week later and delivers to me to inspect. As George Takai would say «Oh my!» because the rings are beautiful. The repair work completed, stones buffed and secured, and everything sparkling clean. I had forgotten the beauty of one of my stones because, well, it had been so long since it had been thoroughly cleaned by a jeweler. I am impressed. I know we will be customers for maintenance of my jewelry and I suspect we will be new customers for additions to my collection. Thank you Urban!

I purchased an engagement ring at Urban a few months ago, and I was extremely pleased with the service and the product. Tom was extremely helpful and patient, as I was looking for a pretty tough size, cut, and clarity to locate. I actually ended up buying a stone I looked at nearly two months earlier, but I paid the original quoted price ($ 1000 less than what it was at the time). I also had the setting custom-​made — it was perfectly done in a timely fashion.
My fiancée loves her ring, and we will definitely be returning to buy our wedding bands. Highly, highly recommended.

I picked out my wife’s engagement ring at Urban and had a really positive experience here. I shopped around… ALOT, going to several other independent jewelers and mall chains around the Detroit area. I’m not into pushy or pretentious sales people which I encountered at many of the other shops. Urban was very easy to deal with — very knowledgeable and no high pressure sales tactics.
I chose one of their custom designs and my wife was really happy with it. We’d done some shopping together at other jewelers and she picked out some designs but I wanted to surprise her with something she’d never seen before. Fortunately she loved it! We also purchased my wedding band at Urban and had it customized to complement my wife’s ring.
I don’t really have any negatives to report. Everything was ready on the promised dates and turned out great. They also offered free lifetime ultrasonic cleaning as an added bonus.

I can’t speak to custom creations, which they may be fabulous at, but I did have a piece of jewelry repaired here and was not impressed by the quality of their bench work. The first attempt at repairing the head of my ring resulted in the head being visibly lopsided. Of course, I brought it back and pointed out the flaw. They redid it, and though better, it was still a bit lopsided with the stone still set unevenly within the basket. I did not pursue this further because I figured 2 attempts was enough, and I did not want to risk compromising the structural integrity of the ring.

I love this place. I got my engagement ring resized and cleaned here, as well as got it appraised since it was an antique, and we had such great service I really wanted to go back to get our wedding bands made. We shopped around ALOT before deciding on Urban. They were the best price and the best service. They made my ring custom in the design that I dreamed up, and I was so happy to learn they only use conflict free diamonds, which was really important to me. You never get the feeling they are just trying to sell you something — the staff here are jewelry designers, not sales people. They sit down with you and calculate cost by everything that goes into the ring you want, so you never feel like someone is just pulling a price out of thin air. My husband got his ring here too — he just wanted a plain stainless steel band. They didn’t try and talk him into something fancier and made him exactly what he wanted. We both could not be happier with our rings and the service at this place. Definitely not your traditional pushy jewelry store, thats for sure. :)

Urban jewelers helped my fiancé and I design and create our engagement ring, which turned out beautifully. We went to the more popular and avant garde Abracadabra Jewelers first and had incredible sticker shock at what it would cost to even have them draw a design for us… Urban didn’t charge us a thing to draw our ring, or even to mold it out of wax. They also offered a range of quality metals and counseled us on what would be right for us without trying to up-​sell. They worked with us to change the design numerous times to my specifications and in the end, it cost less than half of what it would have cost at the other store. The only downside I can point to is that the décor in the store is very dated and reminded me of being in a dentist’s office in the 90’s. But, if you can get past that, you won’t be disappointed.
