University of Michigan Surgery and recovery. Top notch surgical team. With so many patients seen everyday, I would say the attention my family received was excellent. Recovery up in the hospital has also been very helpful and accommodating staff. Very good care. So many excellent, cutting edge medical care. It feels good to help educate the students as well.
Many people find fault with the care, but an educated consumer, preparation and communication helps to avoid problems.

New Women and Children’s center
It is amazing. A recent visit for a my child’s surgery was our first in-patient stay since the new wing opened. Private rooms, well-planned layout, comfortable, accommodating, safe, and reliable staff. The nurses listened. There was always a go-to person for anything from questions to needing a toothbrush. Better creature comforts for parents staying with their children, including adding a café that doesn’t mean you have to walk a mile to get a snack. Oh and you can get cell service in the rooms.
The doctors are topnotch, and not the facilities are up to parr with the doctors. Beautiful

Hmmm… Really mixed feelings on this one. On the one hand, UM has a TON of specialities at your fingertips. On the other are the egos of the docs in said specialties. Come on people, it’s MI, not NYC, there’s no reason to cop an attitude with me when I come to you with a problem– or my mommy for that matter! That said, if you find a nice doctor, you’re in hypochondriac heaven. They have excellent resources available to figure out all that ails you. Just be warned about the snobbiness that abounds in their medical staff. Boo!
