I’ve had bad experience with bike shops in the past, always trying to rip me off and pay more money for parts/services I don’t need. Therefore, I do most bike stuff myself because it is fun and makes me feel like a man(lol). However I am super busy this month and my bike is in poor shape. I brought it here for basic maintenance and to fix a problem with my gear not catching. After two days they called me and told me to come in due to unexpected problems. «Here we go» I thought. I took of my bra to get ready to be milked(for my money). NOPE! They told me what was wrong, said they couldn’t fix it, and referred me to another shop. They also made some minor tune ups and tried fixing it for an hour. When I went to pay, they laughed and said they won’t charge me, because they didn’t fix the problem. That is awesome customer service. You have made a customer for life and thank you for being so kind

Transition Rack is the place TOGO if you need any help with your bike no matter the type, age, or condition. Don’t be deterred by the nice equipment hanging on the walls(there is plenty of it, and it is nice, and I wish I owned it); Brad & crew have helped me out on a number of occasions with bikes both new and old. I really like this shop because 1) they never sell me things that I do not need and 2) they aren’t snobby when it comes to bikes, which can sometimes be the case.

Very satisfied. A rare 5 star for me. Changed an inner tube for $ 13.46(there was a 10% holiday discount, otherwise it’s usually $ 15.xx). Brought it in and within 20 – 30 mins it was ready. Amazing. Felt especially wonderful, especially once you’ve had a few experiences with the evil old man on central campus.

They are shady. I once ordered bike equipment three weeks in advance, but they failed to have it delivered, so instead they gave me more expensive gear instead, for a «discount». Overall i paid more than I should, but i was desperate for the gear since I had a race coming up. On top of that, they charged me for services they said would be free. I just couldn’t believe that businesses like this could exist.

So I was recommended this store by a friend and I was not disappointed! I have had several bike tune ups there and the staff has been nothing but honest with what needs to be fixed and showing me/walking me through what needed to be done. My bikes have felt like new each time. When my girlfriend ordered a bike online and needed it put together we took it into transition rack and they put it together in their shop while we waited… it was an educational experience to say the least. One of the techs, Brad, took us through each step of the assembly and we both came away with a better knowledge of bikes and how to do minor fixes ourselves. That is the kind of expertise and commitment you want from a local bike shop!

I’m a fan. I brought in my bike for some repairs, they repaired the bike, and now it rides better than ever. Nothing that any bike shop couldn’t have done. What won me over, however, was that when I told the guy that someone stole all the mounts off my handle bars(mounts for lights, and my bell), the guy started pulling out lights, bells, etc. to give to me for free. I doubt I’ll have a need to go back before I move out of the area, but if I did, Transition is definitely where I’d go. My only complaint is that I wish they had a larger space, while still being located downtown.

Yes! A reliable, affordable, knowledgeable bike place downtown. I could not be happier with Transition Rack. I brought my four-year-old bike here for some desperately needed TLC on the cables and brakes. When I walked in, I was greeted by three friendly, bike-savvy people who took a genuine interest in helping me I don’t know much about bike repair, but they were so patient as I listed the problems with my bike, and they were great about talking everything through with me. I left my bike with them and felt like it was in good hands. Lo and behold, just two days later, they called me to say my bike was ready. I just went to pick it up. They did not rip me off(ahem, Student Bike Shop), they did not tell me it would take two weeks to get my bike fixed(ahem, Two Wheel Tango)… they simply took my bike, worked quickly, and did fantastic work. I have zero hesitation recommending this place. They’re professional, generous, and efficient. I have only good things to say, and am SO happy to have a real bike repair shop downtown.
