I loved Russa Yoga when I lived in Ann Arbor. I noticed improvement in muscle tone, definition, and strength. I always left feeling calm and relaxed. I went to the studio in Santa Barbara on a work trip and enjoyed it. I even bought a portable Danda and the dvd to do Russa at home. I definitely recommend it.

For starters, I have never done rope yoga at any studio other than Russa Yog, so my comparative value is low. However, I went to at least 20 classes and gave the place a fair chance before writing this review. Honestly, this place is great for people who are pretty unathletic but want to experience the breathing and focusing aspects of a yoga practice. Coming from a challenging hot vinyasa and ashtanga background, I could not stomach paying money to do a few squats and hang off of some ropes. The instructors are genuine yogis and are passionate about keeping the practice authentic… that is to be admired. On the other hand, I would rather my yoga practice provide some type of physical challenge. Even the breathing exercises are subpar. The huge colored floor mats also reminded me of my pre school gymnastics lessons, ugh. Perk: you get free authentic chai tea after class, which is admittedly cool.

To say RussaYog is anything short of amazing would be quite an understatement. Having a little experience with more«traditional» yoga, I knew this would be a special time and enjoyed a session at their Ann Arbor location. Everything was explained and we were all helped out as much as possible. I felt very comfortable in the class, but boy did my body pay for it! Although I hung in there pretty well, there were weaknesses exposed that I now can continue to work on and strengthen. Although I do not live in Ann Arbor, I will be back and will return to RussaYog. They had a cool dandas, doras and dvds for sale to allow RussaYog on the go. You can do it from home even! They also have a studio in Santa Barbara, CA, so if you ever make it out there, stop in and take a class on the beach. Can you imagine doing yoga in Cali, on the beach and watching the sun rise? What a glorious day that will be! RussayYog rocks. It is a challenging and rewarding change of pace to stay aligned. Good stuff.

I’ve loved my classes with Jasmine! I enjoyed her teaching style and her energy. The rope element of RY allows me to work on specific muscles and I have definitely seen the results. My balance and strength have improved as well. I will definitely continue going to her classes. RY has helped me on my path to personal growth and wellness.
