Employees are very nice and courteous. The hours are somewhat inconvenient because it usually closes earlier than your other gyms. Also, there isn’t as much equipment as one would expect; only two bench presses, and no area for deadlifts, etc. The great thing is that the place is very clean and convenient; being a student at Ross, its pretty convenient to stop by after class instead of going to the CCRB.

This gym would be ok, were it not for the self-entitled undergrad brats who think they own the place. The school really needs to limit the hours and give priority to staff, faculty and grad students. Its simply not big enough for all the students at Ross and the law school

In a way this review is useless because the patrons largely choose it for the convenience of working out where they essentially live… at the b-school. However those who are weighing it against other options or are thinking of buying without seeing may find this helpful. I give it a mediocre review because the layout is not conducive to any sort of workout plan that involves working similar muscles at one time. The equipment is very limited, always crowded, limited hours and cardio machines change frequently so you can’t benchmark your performance at a given exercise, The good points are obviously convenience, price, some classes and always working equipment. I personally choose the other U of M gyms where the hours are better and there is a better variety of equipment available to ensure a good workout in a decent amount of time. There is also something to be said for making your painful deadlift face in front of strangers as opposed to classmates.

Having recently started at the law school, my fitness options appeared limited to going to the«vintage» school gyms on campus or paying a little extra and trekking all the way up to the YMCA. The Y was looking pretty good until I found out that the business school’s gym was another option. Dreamy location, brand new facilities, and affordable pricing($ 175/semester)? Count me in. Like every gym I’ve ever frequented, it can get pretty full at prime hours(4 – 6 or so), but I still haven’t had to wait for a cardio machine. Better yet is the wall full of plasma TVs, playing every possible channel and sure to suit your fancy. Their free weight selection seems adequate(though I prefer kettlebells, which they also have in light weights) and I’m told they’ll be installing some TRX trainers soon too. Exciting. I heard they’re affiliated with Equinox, not that it matters. They have clean, fresh towels and a well-maintained facility. The showers and hairdriers could be improved, but it’s nice to be able to use the lockers without bringing your own lock. Class are six days a week, but you have to sign up in advance. So far I’ve only seen yoga, pilates, and«body sculpting» offered. Main drawback: horrible hours. M-F from 6:30am-9pm and Sa-Su from 12pm-6pm. It’s hard to make time to go every day when it’s that limited.
