I have done a lot of PT(physical therapy) in my life. I find it very handy to go to the Ice Cube, since it’s closer than the main Medsport office, at Domino’s Farms. Recently, I went to Medsport because of an injury that had been bothering me for a couple of months. It had not gotten better on its own. After the diagnosis at the main office, I had a PT appointment the next day at the Ice Cube. My current medical insurance would pay for the diagnosis visit, but not for the actual PT. Before I went in for my PT appointment, I had to sign a waiver stating that I was aware that I’d be paying the full cost. No problem. I want to get better. The very good news is that since I have done so much PT, most of it from home by myself, I already have a lot of great exercise equipment. The therapist said I’d only need one session with her to come up with a set of exercises to address the particular issue that brought me there that day. Yipee! You have to be disciplined enough to do your PT at home by yourself, but you can save a lot of money. I told the therapist what equipment I had at home. She came up with exercises for me. We went over the exercises together. I tried them out, she watched, and asked if I had any questions. Then she printed off a handy sheet and we made a few more notes before she sent me on my way. She said don’t hesitate to call back if I have any more questions, and gave me her card. Update: My knee got even more inflamed after starting PT, but a couple of iontophoresis treatments got the pain under control, and I was able to return to my at-home PT program. I am very impressed with all of the therapists that I have met over the years through Medsport. They know their stuff, and can give me concrete advice on what NOT to do to avoid aggravating an injury, what TODO to get stronger and stop the pain. The gym at the Ice Cube is well equipped. I never like the TV shows that are on the boob tubes, but the volume is low enough that it’s not a bother. Just don’t look. The shower and locker room is fairly nice.
