I’ve been going to Dr. Sickels for a few years now and he is AWESOME. Certainly, you can go to him when you’re sick. But he’s MUCHMORE than that. Unlike most doctors, he’s the kind who wants to help you OPTIMIZE your health.(There is a big difference between those two principles) He combines conventional medications with holistic treatments, nutritional supplements, and lifestyle changes to maximize your health. At my last visit, we discussed my vitamin D levels(back to normal after being too high) and supplements he thought would help my allergies. He also added vitamin B12 to my vitamin régime because I had a little something off with my red blood cells. He doesn’t take most insurances because insurance companies only want to pay when you’re sick. They don’t want to pay for keeping you well. Whatever. It’s well worth the cost, and they bill my insurance company anyway so it’s credited against my out-of-network deductible. He does tend to order a lot of labwork, but you can go to whatever lab you choose. It’s tough to get in as a new patient. Expect to wait a few months as a new patient. Once you’re in, however, it’s not tough to make an appointment. I really can’t recommend him highly enough. If you want the best of both worlds(conventional plus alternative medicine), he’s the man.
