This is The. Best. Videogame. Resale. In. Michigan. Very rarely have I gotten a stinker, and the one game I picked up that didn’t work, I was able to swap.(even gave me a slightly higher priced game for my troubles.) I always get polite service, everywhere I go, but here I don’t have to pull out the ‘Polite first’ guns. It’s autopilot for them. I really wish they had a larger selection of boardgames, but they do have a great magic programme. They don’t have a huge warhammer selection, but they do a good job for a ‘bit of everything’ store. A tic on the list of reasons why I moved to A2.

If all you’re looking for is the big name games, this place is fine. If you’re in any way interested in old school or indie table top RPGs, you’re out of luck. I went there the weekend after Free RPG Day and the idiot clerk couldn’t even tell me if they’d participated the weekend before. They managed to eke out a 2nd star from me by having a decent board game selection.

Get Your Game On is a local hot spot for all gaming needs. They offer a variety to meet any gamer’s needs. From video games, Warhammer, Heroclix, Magic: The Gathering, and a wide assortment of board games. A true gamer’s delight. I frequent this store for buying Magic singles, as well as playing in weekly Legacy tournaments. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Not my go to store, but still a favorite. One tip I’ll give for those wanting to come play Legacy, or any weekday tourney, is to park on the street! If you park just a couple blocks over at around 5:30 — 5:45, then you’ll only spend 50 cents(due to no fee after 6PM.) This is much cheaper than a garage and usually spots are available.

The store’s name holds true. We went on a busy Magic night. Holy cow, there was only one girl in a crowd of 100 sweaty nerds. Wow, it was loud and packed like sardines. However, besides that, they had a plethora of video games, gaming books and other gaming materials. One of the only places that we’ve been to, that has used 2e D&D books. Impressive.

Get your Game On is my game store of choice in Ypsi/Arbor. Unlike most comic book stores they carry video games(new, used and vintage) as well as hardware. They also care more board games then anyone else in the area along with RPG supplies and Magic the Gathering Cards. The crowd is a little more adult then the other shops in town with most players above 21 yrs old. There is great Magic played all week with fun casual Elder Dragon Highlander played on Tuesday and sanctioned Legacy every Wednesday. My only negative is that there magic singles tend the be the highest price in town. But in the end it is worth playing a little bit more to play games in a great environment.

So much better than the chain game stores. It offers everything, card games, video games, and board games. Their huge tv is great, and John is always nice to talk to and great to customers. Bought some of my favorite video games from this place. I’m sad I’m no longer walking distance from it.

This gaming store has a little of everything. That’s sort of good or bad, depending on how you look at it. They have a little something that will appeal to all kinds of gamers and comic geeks, but not a ton of any one thing. For instance, they have comic books, but not a huge selection. They have Magic: The Gathering cards, but not a ton of them. They have miniature and paints, fantasy board games, videogames and used DVDs. Still, the staff member I talked to was nice and told me a lot about the store’s special events. They host board game nights, Magic tourneys and Warhammer events, and you can just drop in and play with friends as well. When I asked about buying single MTG cards, he showed me a set of binders, arranged by set, where you can check the price of common, uncommon and rare cards. At 25 cents for commons and 80 cents for most uncommons, the prices are about the same as any other gaming store in the area. Parking kind of stinks here, though. There’s a lot right next to it, but don’t park there, since it’s for the apartments next door. There are metered spots, but finding an open one might be a challenge depending on what day and time you go.

They’re awesome. Every other game store we went into asking if they had Pass the Pigs, they just said no. At Get Your Game On, they special ordered Pass the Pigs for us and even held on to it for weeks until we were ready to pick it up! I think it’s awesome when businesses offer to add special things on to their orders. Pass the Pigs is such a fun game. Get it from them if you can.

There’s certain things one needs in their local comic shop. It needs to be convenient. It needs to have all the titles you are looking for. It needs to have other little eccentricities and wares to attract your attention after you spend five minutes looking at the new releases ever Wednesday. And most of all it needs to have impeccable customer service. Get Your Game on has all of these in spades. To be fair, GYGO isn’t strictly or even specifically a comic book store. Its focus is on gaming — be it board or video. All I can really tell you in that regard is that there always seems to be a bunch of nerds hanging out in the store having a fun, playing some complicated dice rolling game on some of the tables or having a four way battle on the stores giant HDTV. I’m usually tempted by their stock of used video games. But their comic service is great. Its ever expanding, and the owner remembers my name every time despite my appearance only every 3 weeks or so. He’s gone out of his way to track stuff down and make great suggestions, despite the insignificant amount of cash I spend there. As far as local shops go, this is one well worth your support.
