Dogwood Veterinary Referral Center

We really liked the dr and the staff. We felt like the dr truly cares and wasn’t just trying to sell to us. He was very thorough during his exam. We were given a few options for treatment. He answered all of our questions. We are choosing to have an MRI done, which will be expensive, but we definitely did NOT feel pressured. They only do MRI’s on a weekend if it’s truly an emergency — they would have to call in the necessary on-​call staff. Even though our dog seems to be getting worse it is not an extreme emergency. So her MRI is scheduled for Friday. I will post another review after that visit.
On Wednesday I called to make the original appointment and was scheduled for the following Wednesday. Then our dog seemed to be getting worse, so I called yesterday and they said that we could bring her in for an emergency appointment right away or this morning. So we took her this morning.
The pamphlet in the exam room had price estimates which indicated $ 125 for consultation. We were charged $ 210 but I think that is because it was considered an emergency appointment. We also had to wait awhile in the exam room but it was a last minute appointment and not an extreme emergency so I’m not surprised that we had a long wait.

Dogwood is an incredible veterinary service. Not only are they incredibly skilled (they saved our dog after he was paralyzed), but they are kind and generous. Recently, we were out of town and had a friend watching our dog. He started showing symptoms of paralysis again and our dog sitter panicked and couldn’t get a hold of us. We had given her the contact for Dogwood and she took him there. They did a check up of our dog (who was fine) and didn’t even charge our dog sitter for the visit. We are so thankful and grateful to have such a fantastic service in the Ann Arbor area!

I have nothing but good things to say about dogwood! We took our baby here after he was suffering from seizures. The neurologists were all phenomenal and they sincerely care about your dog. We got all the answers we needed and we are so glad we found them! Everybody from the receptionists to doctors were so nice!!! Highly recommend :-)

Went here due to my Saint Bernard suffering from seizures. Found them to be very kind and understanding. Will give you all the options without pressuring you into expensive treatments. Very happy with them.

EXCELLENT! After 6+ months of not knowing exactly what was ailing my old girl, we finally saw Dr. Isaacs and got the answers we needed. Had I taken the advice of some of my friends and family, I would have ended her life needlessly. Instead, we received a very thorough and compassionate work-​up, which included several diagnostic procedures unavailable elsewhere, and discovered nothing — PERFECT! No tumors, no infections, scans of her lungs were clear, great ECG and bloodwork. Now I can sleep well at night knowing she is not suffering from some terrible fatal illness or disease and that we can simply treat her weird quirks medically. We ar so lucky to have such great specialists right in our backyard!

Awesome clinic. Dr. Galle is very good at what he does and is very down to earth. He diagnosed our bull dog with congenital vertebral abnormality after we paid for an unnecessary mri at Wolfe mri and neurology in novi (which they said was a vertebral infection and she was treated with 8 weeks of useless antibiotics). After all is said and done, izzy was walking too good for dr. Galle to recommend any further treatment aside from life style modifications. If we would of stayed with Wolfe we would probably be on our second unnecessary mri and proceeding to unnecessary surgery. Dr. Galle saved us a lot of money and our dog from unnecessary pain.

If your dog can only drink water from a turkey baster and you have to hold him up from falling while he does his business, you may be like me and find yourself here. My primary vet could not diagnose him but probably extended his life when she followed up and gave a last minute referral change to the neurologists at Dogwood.
After a two week steady decline and a day before my appointment here, he got so bad I didn’t think he was gonna make it another day. I called and they made space that day between two other appointments.
I carried my bulldog in. The front desk ladies were very nice and helpful. They gave me a backroom immediately and set my dog on a blanket. There, I filled out some paperwork and waited. Behind the wall in the other room, I heard a monkey screaming. The front desk ladies later told me they treat all sorts of animals, a couple snakes that day too.
After about a 20 minute wait, Dr. Andrew Isaacs entered the room with another vet shadowing him. He examined him thoroughly and performed various physical tests. He noticed abnormal eye movement along with other symptoms that pointed to a rare neurological condition called central vestibular disease. Diagnosing the cause of that condition would require an expensive MRI and a spinal fluid test.
Without pressure, Dr Isaacs then presented me with two options. First one was to do those tests and then treat the cause. The other option was just to treat all possible causes with medication at the same time. I opted for immediate treatment of all possible causes.
A week later of treatment, my bulldog’s health improved. I got a few more quality weeks with him. It turned out he likely had a brain tumor that grew too fast and the treatment gave him temporary relief.
Throughout the process, both Dr. Isaacs and Dr. Galle gave me expert opinion and treatment options. They answered all my calls, even during off hours.
I do miss my best friend. I’m grateful to Dogwood for their treatment plan and advice which allowed us more time before saying farewell.
