This is the perfect place to find raw materials for all of your crafty projects. Watch out, or the owner will talk your ear off, but if you want to learn a thing or two about buttons and button collecting, this is the real McCoy. The owner is a nationally-​recognized expert on button collecting.
My sister brought me to The Button Lady one day, after we’d gone to visit the home dec store that was nearby, Dixboro General Store. We had lunch at MoonWink’s Café, and The Button Lady and her shop were the highlight of the trip for me.
Besides the buttons, about half the store is devoted to antiques of various kinds – mostly ordinary, everyday items from the household of about 50~100 years ago. I assume that most of these are for sale. A few items are so rare and precious that I’m sure they are not for sale, but are there for people to enjoy. This part of the shop is a lot like a folk art museum.
I bought a couple of $ 5 button packets – I told the owner that I wanted them to make jewelry. She said she was curious about what I’d make out of them. I really enjoyed my visit, and next time I can go back, I’ll be sure to bring a few of my creations so I can show her.
