Cotton bike shorts are elusive. American Apparel carries them! AA staff is friendly + helpful and prices were lower than I’d remembered. I’d give em 5 stars if corporate wasn’t so creepy.

I think American apparel style is a little bit weird… I know it made clothes for the dancer before, but still too«vintage». it is quite hard for me to pick clothes there. However, undoubtedly AA has better quality than UO, it is not bad if you purchase via AA coupon which they always offer(25for50 or 50for100)

Customer service was ok. Took forever to check out. Clothes are overpriced. All I walked out with was their raw almond lip balm.

This store had the worst customer service I’ve experienced in quite some time! I was shopping in the store on the Saturday post Thanksgiving because of an advertised discount on their storefront window for 20% off 4 or more items. Apparently, they forgot to take down the sign because unbeknownst to me, the discount was for only Black Friday. The sales associate didn’t realize this either until she called her manager because she was unable to apply the discount at the register. She was informed via phone that she was only to give a 10% discount as a courtesy for the mistake. I was very upset because I only went into the store because I saw the advertised discount, and I spent half an hour desperately trying to find 4 items to be eligible for the discount. I had 2 shirts that I had committed to buying and was prepared to pay full price for them, but I wanted to take advantage of the sale, so I spent another 20 minutes circling the store to come up with 2 more pieces. The sales associates quickly took down the signs and refused to honor their advertisement. I’m not a cheapskate, but I refuse to buy from a company that does not value their customers. I shop at American Apparel and pay more for basics such as t-shirts and leggings because they advertise that their products are manufactured in the U.S. and their employees are paid fare wages, but I am so turned off by their service. They want us to shop with a conscience, but they have no conscience of their own. I’m gonna stick to shopping at places where I know customers are priority like Nordstrom, Zappos and Costco.

This store was my first experience with an American Apparel. I have to say I was quite pleased. Though some of the ensembles are a bit eccentric, I think the eccentricity comes from the way the pieces are paired together — not the pieces individually. Most of their clothes are bold solid colors, which is nice because you can accessorize them to dress them up or dress them down. Location of the store is great(close to campus). Prices are a little steep, but I guess part of what you’re paying for is the made-in-the-USA concept. I’m a little torn on quality. The pieces I’ve bought have lasted a long time. I think I own two skirts, four tops, and a dress from here. But when we were in the fitting room, playing fashion show, a friend of mine tried on a pink shirt, then came out of the fitting room and hugged me. The pink from the shirt actually came off onto my white purse. So I would recommend washing the clothes a few times before you wear them, even though the company lies and says they’re pre-washed pre-shrunk. If you’ve already washed it, then why is the dye running?

If you’ve ever been to an American Apparel store then you already know exactly what to expect. I do think this store uses it’s space well though and also does a good job with the displays. Staff is pretty helpful considering you are in American Apparel. Not like some other stores where all the staff does is change outfits and prance around. Watch out coming here on UM home game weekends. It’s as if every high school/college girl that’s been dragged to the game conditioned her attendance on a trip to the American Apparel.
