The course is nice, but the pace of play is brutal. If you want to spend $ 90 and spend 5 hours on a round of golf, with no help from the marshall, moving the locals along, be my guest. If pace of play means something to you, on a nice course, that is fairly expensive, I would suggest Saddle Creek. Here’s what you’ll get for your money, 62 year old women pulling out a range finder on a short par three tee box, literally standing next to the red marker that says 110 yards. After 2 – 3 practice swings, both of the women in front of us hit their balls into the water. 20 minutes later, they walked off and moved onto the next hole. Normally I would say, we caught it on a bad day. Unfortunately, this is the second time it’s happened. If pace of play is important, I would be careful. Get out early and avoid any tournaments at all costs. Bad players are not the issue. Bad golf etiquette and a lack of pace are the issues here. If this continues, outsiders will stop coming up to spend that much money. Outsiders spend at least $ 400 per group(counting food). That money goes towards salaries and upkeep which allow the locals to play the course for a great price. The price charged to members would never keep this place afloat. On the positive side, the facilities are terrific. The bar staff is friendly and the pro shop is very helpful.

Staying at the Greenhorn Resort is your getaway away from a getaway. My high school boys’ golf team heads here once a year. I’m writing this as a freshman/first timer, and it is spectacular! The golf course itself is very scenic, but challenging. Holes 1 – 3 are great starting holes, but it slowly gets more challenging from there. Hole 4 has a stone wall splitting the hole in half, whereas Holes 5&6 have water lining the right side of the fairway and green. Hole 7 is a straight par 5, but it slopes uphill and there are a lot of houses lining every single hole, in general. The course is kept in great condition. The Caddy Shack is, honestly, the best place to stay at Greenhorn! Nice and roomy for large groups(this year’s team was so small I actually got my own room!), a full-service kitchen(except the stove — a hot plate will be on top of the refrigerator), a nice lawn(with an actual barbecue and horseshoe pits!), as well as HDTV, wireless internet, and a few card and board games. This is also great for just a weekend getaway if you really don’t want to do anything else, or maybe a family getaway(a golfer’s family, of course!) Jessica in the bar/restaurant was really friendly and served our group hot dogs before our tee times, as if she already knew who we were and what we were here for! Service, lodging, and golfing was great at Greenhorn and I hope to stay here again!

I would go lower, however I can not. Man with dark hair at golf course was very rude. Continued to lie to me and eventually called me a dick. After this incident I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome I canceled my next week at the resort and went home to my high stress, disorienting, high maintenance job.

We just spent 3 days golfing at Green horn with friends. Excellent golf course… perfect weather in October. And the restaurant was a wonderful surprise. Excellent food, service and reasonable prices. If you are a golfer… you will enjoy playing & staying there.

Very nice layout although quite challenging. Holes number one and number two are nice moderate starting holes, three is an easy no forced carry par three and then you hit number four. The dreaded wall this whole will eat one two or more of your balls if you do not stay left or straight. Anything to the right is gobbled up by lots of out of hazards and out of bounds markers in homes’ yards. The rest of the course is a nice mix of open fairways, forced carries and some water. Very friendly staff, quiet electric carts with solar powered USB ports for telephones. Good reduced rates in the late afternoon on weekdays. If you are hungry at the turn you can either call ahead and they will have a sandwich ready or you can order it inside and they will run it out to you on a cart. They also have hotdogs and Polish sausage available for a quick to go meal. It’s our sister in-law’s home course so we know it well. The dining room at the clubhouse, Camps, is also very good for dinner.

Had a hard time finding yard markers on the course. Bunkers r terrible. Greens are good but staff was not real friendly.

They ran out of plates for the Easter Brunch but quickly turned some around, so can’t complain too much. Nice variety of food. Beautiful location. I would go there again.

I got to play here a couple weeks ago because my golf club has one of their yearly events here. I was skeptical at first because I didn’t think there was a golf course in the Angels Camp area but what do I know. Who knew? Aside from fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities this nicely nestled town away from the bustling city life and suburbs has one nice golf course settled around golf course homes and resort homes. The employees at the pro shop and around the course are extremely helpful. My favorite employee would have to be Max. He’s the best! Talk to him for a bit if you get a chance and he’ll give you life lessons you can only experience from traveling the world. Make sure not to slow down your pace of play though because Max or other marshals will be on you like syrup on pancakes. They’re good guys… the golf round never slows down too much here, even on weekends. As for the course… well, it’s short but challenging. It makes you play a lot of shots you normally wouldn’t…meaning it’s all about course management here, course knowledge, and knowing your abilities. A lot of the fairways are narrow. Some have obstacles like giant trees in the middle of them. And the winds, when vicious, turn a pretty good looking tee shot to a hard shot in the rough, or worse, in the woods or red staked areas were par is furthest from your mind. It pays to be accurate and safe here… just my opinion. Some of the vistas the course offers are incredible. You’ll just have to see it for yourself to find out. Two days of tournament golf and I was done for. The first day was brilliant… I got 4th. The second a whole different story. Lots of birdies and lots of pars, but lots of bogey or worse holes also. Can’t wait for next year’s tournament. They also have a great restaurant that has a patio area to unwind and check out the vista of the 18th green and fairway after a round. It feels very country club like. Camps restaurant has live music during the evenings which made the atmosphere feel exclusive yet not too pompous. The beer choices on tap are refreshing also… different from the norm.
