My husband and went to Karma to have dinner last Friday evening with some friends and had a wonderful evening. We had been there once before almost a year ago during the week and were very impressed with the ambiance, the food, and the service at that time, and were finally able to make it back with some friends who had never been there before. The food was as delicious and the service as great as it was the first time we were there. The Peking raviolis were delicate and not tough and doughy as they often are in other restaurants, the beef teriyaki was tender and flavorful but not too salty or sweet, and my chicken broccoli entrée was excellent-the chicken tender, the broccoli crisp, and the amount of seasoning and the sauce consistency was perfect. My husband’s hot and sour soup was not too thick and had just the right amount of vinegar and seasoning. Added to this was the fabulous ambiance and live music-the very talented jazz duo who performed there were a wonderful enhancement to the atmosphere and made the evening that much more enjoyable. I checked out Karma’s face book page and there is a very impressive lineup of musicians in addition to the duo we heard, all performing different genres of music. And to top it off, the bathroom was even lovely:) It is refreshing to see a restaurant that is committed to bringing the best of everything to their customers. I hope to be able to dine there again soon and would highly recommend Karma Andover to anyone who enjoys Asian fusion cuisine and appreciates top quality live music.

Always have great meals & apps when we go here. It’s never been too busy which is good but that being said, sometimes we felt forgotten about. Still worth going– love their oysters!

Very nice atmosphere, I have a gluten allergy. They don’t have a lot of options, but more than most Chinese locations. We tried some sushi and it was delicious, but the Chinese menu wasn’t great. We had a house fried rice gluten free(which was white rice with veggies and meat, no sauce) and a chicken and broccoli(in a «white sauce“which had a garlic flavor.) Overall it was okay, but not worth a trip back.

I’m knocking a star off from my first review. I came here for dinner last night and thought the food was average. First of all, the dinner menu is large but overpriced. My friends and I got a sashimi dish, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Tiger Eye Roll, Chicken Pad Thai and Salt and Pepper Calamari. The sashimi dish was a very small portion for something so pricy. The sushi rolls didn’t taste fresh. Chicken Pad Thai tasted super bland — should’ve known better since they’re not a Thai restaurant. But the highlight of our dinner was the calamari — it was super crispy and flavorful. They had live music that night but I prefer a quiet dinner. Oh and I didn’t like how we were seated at a table instead of a booth. It was hard to fit our dishes on the tiny table. They impressed me with their lunch buffet but I don’t think I’ll do dinner again.

I discovered this place yesterday, and I am giving it only 2 stars because I like it and would like to see it improve. On a week-day the buffet price is reasonable, but the choice is limited, and the quantities on the food tray even less so. Although we were a party of eight, and the restaurant was not so busy, we did not get a lot of attention from our waiters. They were nice, but did not show up as often as they should have, and forgot some of our orders. By the time we were ready for dessert, most of the limited choices were gone, and there were only literally 3 pieces of fruits. They did not bother doing any refills, although there were still few other diners in the room. On the upside, the taste and quality of the food was surprisingly good, which you wouldn’t expect from a buffet. I will give it another chance and hope to see some improvements.

I ordered takeout, but after seeing the décor i wished that I had dined in — the place has a beautiful ambience. My husband and I ordered 4 maki rolls, all of which were delicious. The prices were a little high for takeout, but it was worth it for good sushi in Andover. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had, but Karma is close to home, has an interesting and extensive menu, and the presentation was perfect. I’ll definitely be a return customer!

Great! Their stuff is awesome. I got the gyouza, duck buns, pad thai… the works. Their eel is awesome, definitely recommend getting the eel special! I’ll be coming back because damn. That was so good. I also tried sake for the first time here and it was pretty great too. Overall, i would really recommend it, it’s really cool! The atmosphere is pretty great too especially if you’re out on a friday night or somethin looking for a place to go. Awesome stuff man, great job Karma!

This is a review coming from an out-of-towner… and a very spoiled out-of-towner from the Bay Area, at that. In SF/Bay Area and LA if you want ANY kind of traditional Asian food you can find it, and it’s some of the best in the world! Go to the Northeast, however, and the pickings are slim. So, that said, I’m giving it a higher rating than I probably would if I were elsewhere… This is everything you can expect from a «Asian» food restaurant in a small town in the Northeast. The ambiance is high end, dimly lit and moody. They have live music, I’m told almost every night, which was very nice. There are two bars, one in the middle and a sushi bar along the back wall. What I found the most bizarre about this place is it combined so many types and styles of food… Chinese, Japanese, and American. Fusion-y for sure. The sushi was fresh but SUPER expensive(but this might be a factor of the location? I was told these are normal prices for sushi in the area.) I had the Sake-don which, unless I’m totally misunderstanding, ends up being much less expensive than ordering the sashimi a la carte. It might be culture shock for me, but I recommend you come here with an open mind – even though the menu says traditional, this is far from any kind of traditional foods I’ve ever had. It seems like they’re catering to a population of people not familiar with these types of foods, and also in an area with not many of these food type choices. I think they’ve done a great job and it’s a very nice restaurant! Be prepared for a very unique fusion menu!

I went twice for lunch. One time we ordered sushi from the menus, nothing was special, it was ok, the service was fine. The next time I went there I tried the buffet, it was horrible, there was almost nothing in the dishes, it didn’t look appealing at all, the service wasn’t that great either, the buffet lady was on her cell phone all the time pretending not noticing the empty dishes in the buffet.

I was excited to try Karma out as I am a huge sushi fan and there aren’t too many spots in this area. Came here last Sunday with my a girlfriend on Sunday around 5, it was pretty quiet but picked up closer to when we were leaving. We picked out a couple of things to share: Crispy Chicken Wings tossed in salt, pepper, jalapeño peppers Karma Three Layers Spicy Salmon Naruto And the waitress said one of her favorites and customers most popular was Tigers Eye, so we said why not ! Chicken Wings were great, crunchy outside, juicy tender inside. The two other sushi dishes were delicious; but the Tigers Eye suggestion was just flat out gross ! We both took one bite and were like yeah no more. Waitress saw we didn’t touch it and didn’t like it, but still didn’t take it off the bill– I think she should’ve as it was her suggestion; but oh well. I would go back for sushi and those chicken wings for sure, maybe next time will be better !

My co-worker and I decided to stop in for lunch at Karma. We arrived around 12:30PM and were a little surprised to discover we were the only ones there. That’s not usually a good sign at a restaurant but the previous reviews were good so we decided to give it try. The inside has nice décor and is very clean and well kept. There were plenty of staff around and they made us feel welcome. The hostess brought us to our table and explained how there was both a menu and buffet. Shortly there after, our waitress arrived answering any other questions we had and taking our order. We went with the buffet which is $ 11.95/person. The food was pretty good. There’s a nice variety at the buffet of chicken, seafood, and beef. They definitely cater to the«American» Chinese experience — a variety of fried foods(spring rolls, chicken, boneless pork spare ribs, crab rangoons, etc.) along with a large sushi boat with a variety of rolls. They had plenty of non-fried foods as well(chicken with cashes, beef with vegetables, etc.). I was surprised that they didn’t have a giant pot of white rice, but they did provide pork fried rice and lo mien. Both my coworker and I were impressed with the selection. More importantly, I didn’t feel like I was eating greasy Chinese food. Quality seemed pretty good. The rolls in the boat weren’t earth shattering but they weren’t bad and considering it’s all-you-can-eat, on really can’t complain. Service was very good throughout the meal. At one point I had gotten up to grab some rolls and when I came back my plate was gone and my water was refilled. Overall it was a very good experience and worth 4⁄5 stars. I’d like to try some other non-buffett items on their menu. Prices aren’t the cheapest around but if I wanted lower quality food, I could go somewhere else.

Don’t bother. The menu is filled with very overpriced Americanized Chinese dishes — think $ 17 for General Gau’s chicken. The atmosphere is as forgettable as the menu. I wish I could tell you about the food, but over 20 minutes after being seated, no one had come to our table to take our order. In fact, no one had even brought us water. I was with a group of four and the restaurant was not busy. There were at least five wait staff walking around, who would make eye contact but not come to our table — Two of them appeared to be fighting with each other. I saw one person from another table walk up to a server and ask if they could please order. After over twenty minutes of being ignored completely, we left. On the way out I overheard another table say«And they’re also leaving. No surprise. This place is ridiculous» I couldn’t agree more. We walked 20 feet to «Thai Sweet Basil» and had a great, reasonably priced, meal served by friendly people who were clearly pleased to have our business. I’d recommend you do the same.

A very nice addition to the oftentimes anemic suburban restaurant scene. I’m usually not a fan of a mixed Asian menu but Karma makes it work. A warm neighborhood scene, attractive restaurant and bar, and smooth acoustic live music from Ed Antonelli. Welcome Karma!

Every once in a while one can discover a gem-in-the-rough. That’s exactly what I found at Karma. The most important thing, the food, was great. Where some Asian restaurants fail, Karma excels. Food was freshly prepared with very good ingredients and taste was not too spicy or salty. Secondary, is the way the place is decorated — but there was no compromise in that area. Karma has very tasteful and elegant décor comparable to the finest restaurants in Boston. I want to keep this review short, so for the rest of the things that make are pleasurable experience: service, cleanliness, and price — those were all above expectations. The price was not unreasonable; neither high nor low, but worth the price for the experience. Waiter service was exceptional(thanks for the recommendation for the duck appetizer), and thanks for not hovering over me asking, «so, how’s everything». If I don’t like it I’ll tell ya! The only criticism, and probably because the restaurant was busy, the main dish took a while(about 15 min) to get, but worth the wait. I look forward to my next visit to try the next item on the menu — especially the sushi!

Such a long awaited restaurant, that completely fails to deliver. I have been in here twice for lunch and just a few hours ago for drinks after work on a Friday evening. Both times at lunch I spent nearly 60 – 90 minutes in the restaurant, not because I was taking my time but rather because the restaurant was. Slow service, slow food delivery, slow check pickup. Slow everything. The food was ok, but honestly not any better than the food at any other local sushi spot. Admittedly I have not had anything too creative off of the menu, but the food seems to be par rather than exceptional. The service here is what is insane, it is just honestly so bad. I don’t understand. it is so slow, its as if the people working there have no respect for your time. This evening for drinks, we spent at least 15 minutes with our cards in front of us while sitting at the bar before we had to literally raise our had to flag someone over to process our check. Insane. I will absolutely not be returning to this place, nice try Karma.
