I stayed at the Wyndham for a few nights so decided to try this restaurant which is connected to the lobby. The brunch was pretty typical. all-you-can-eat with omelet station. I only ate the omelet. which was decent. I think the brunch cost about $ 25. and it wasn’t really worth that much. There is a Dunkin Donuts a couple blocks away if you want a quick breakfast. which fit me better for the rest of the trip. For dinner once, I had their New England clam chowder and lobster risotto. YUMMMMMMM. Both were so delicious. The clam was so chewy and the soup was so creamy. The lobster risotto was salty and savory just the way I love it :) It came with some bread and butter which was the perfect combo with the soup and risotto. If I stay at the Wyndham again, I wouldn’t bother with the brunch, but would definitely eat the clam chowder and lobster risotto again. The staff here is also superb :)

We were staying at the hotel after a long day of travel so we went downstairs for dinner. Do not at all recommend. The food was frozen, overpriced junk and the service was awful. The quacamame was the only notable item. The peach pork was nothing special and my husband’s lobster risotto was very disappointing. Definitely not worth the money.

Save your money and just don’t eat here. Everything tasted like it was frozen then reheated, the prices are friggin ridiculous, and the menu ain’t nothing to brag about.

This place is great for a hotel restaurant. For lunch they have a great cup of chowder and turkey club sandwich. Staff is friendly and service is fast.

NY strip cooked the way it should be. Ambiance a little quiet as its a hotel restaurant. Better than burtons grille as far as food is concerned.

This place is awesome! We are staying at a nearby hotel and have eaten here twice in 8 days The quality of the steaks meets if not exceeds the Boston steak house scene. Serious !! Also the female evening bartender, forgot her name is awesome as well. Makes an excellent martini along with her great personality Check it out

Inside hotel lobby, entrance on left. Had the fish special. Wife had the lamb, both overpriced but about average for hotel restaurant. Service was excellent. Parking on a Saturday night for restaurant is terrible due to events(weddings, etc.)

Another frequent experience that I have overlooked reviewing. This restaurant is in the Wyndham hotel which means that it is off the beaten path. I have never had to wait for a table. We frequently stop here after a show in Boston. It is high end food without the pretentiousness. Most times we have the same server whose name escapes me right now but she is a love. They start off your meal with warm bread. Or favorite appetizer is the goat cheese and zucchini dip. The meat is incredible whether it is the steak, pork chops or filet. The sauces are delicious. Try the filet bone in at least once. This is a repeater for us.

This review is specifically in regards to dinner. C and I(a local) were staying in the hotel and were too lazy to venture out to Methuen or Lawrence for food. The hotel had a number of places to choose from, but as a group of four adults ranging from 24 – 29, we wanted the atmosphere to be as relaxing and to be as far away from children as possible. When we walked in(7pm on Friday.), I was surprised to see that we were the ONLY group in the restaurant(the other restaurant across the way was packed). As a group, we decided on bruschetta(not bad, but not worth writing home about) and calamari. The latter was incredibly delicious– the best I’ve had in a long while. The meat was lightly breaded with some sort of seasoning and was fried just enough. I had kobe beef sliders. It came in a set of three with a helping of fries and a slice of a pickle. C ordered an angus burger and A ordered a buffalo burger with the same sides as myself. S ordered a behemoth 24 oz rib eye… Every one enjoyed their meal overall. Our bill came out to $ 127 before tip. Not too bad. I wouldn’t bother venturing out specifically for the restaurant if you’re not in the area. FWIW, if you’re in one of the hotels in the area, On the Bone might be your best bet to a pretty good(hotel) meal.

REALLY surprisingly good hotel food! The sliders and choroscos appetizer were absolutely delicious — beef sliders, nice, big fries, and skewered meats with a nice touch of spice. I got the reuben for my meal, which was also delicious: swiss was my choice, with nicely cooked roast beef and Russian dressing. Quick service. Meals were hot, and never too busy!

I have to say that I am quite puzzled by some of the reviews I have seen. I travel extensively for business all over the world and frequent many hotel restaurants and steakhouses. This one is pretty darn good and is not, by any stretch of the imagination, ridiculously overpriced as another poster suggested. Clearly the poster in question has not visited many restaurants in Andover. $ 38 for a bone-in 12oz filet is not unreasonable in these environs, and is a lot less(considering this includes sides) than one would pay at, say, Capital Grille in Burlington. I have been pleased with the food as well as the service.

Cons– Breakfast: I ordered an egg white omlet and it lacked in flavor even after I added salt. Breakfast was a miss for me. Pros– for dinner, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and an On the Bone Wedge Salad. Both were very good.

Really nice restaurant, especially for a hotel restaurant. Nice selection of steaks, seafood, pasta etc. Very nice outdoor courtyard area for eating as well. I might say that the prices are a bit steep, but you do get large portions and the quality is great. The kids selections are inexpensive and large portions. Staff is really friendly. I wouldn’t recommend for breakfast since the buffet price was expensive.

Went for dinner with family. Filet mignon was tender but not very flavorful. Potato and veg were simply prepared and delicious. Cocktails were good. Wine list was good. Wedge salad was good. Bread was served in a bag like you get at Hannaford and had been microwaved(ie, gummy). Service was painfully slow and forgetful. Room was beyond bland(someone referred to it as a conference room – I’d agree). Given all those things, I feel it was overpriced. My biggest complaint is that on the web site they talk about being farm-to-table and very conscientious in that regard; I got none of that. This is a typical mediocre hotel restaurant.

Just had a bad experience. I ordered the Braised Pork Shank and it was brought to me cold. I asked the waitress if it was supposed to be cold and she said now and brought it back to the kitchen. I asked if I could get some bread out(non had been brought to me as other times I have visited). She said to wait a bit as the the bread in the warmer has been in there for some time and it is hard. Not a few minutes later my plate is brought out with the bone remove and and it was a piled mess on the plate, I asked what they did to it and she said the warmed it up and to just try it. It looked like the scraped it into a pan, attempted(?) to heat it up and dumped it on a plate. I refused to try it even after several attempts from her and when she picked up the plate she commented that it does still feel cold. I have never been to a steakhouse where food is treated this way. I would be hard pressed to eat there again.

On the recommendation of AP(remember him from San Diego? He’s terrorizing Andover too!), he said that I needed to try On the Bone at the Wyndham Hotel. With anticipation of yet another stellar meal, a coworker of mine, let’s call him Papa Jim, and I visited the restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Well, let’s just say I didn’t share AP’s enthusiasm. First off, I can say that we didn’t have very long to wait for a table. Now I know Tuesday night isn’t a big dinner night, but me and Papa Jim arrived around 7:00PM and there was NOONE in the restaurant! Needless to say, we were seated immediately. After sitting and ordering our drinks, we both turned our attention to the menu. The prices are ridiculous and this is coming from someone whose company is paying for meals! We both had to calculate how much we could spend(and our per diem is generous) before ordering. Being known for its steaks(it’s not called On the Bone for nothing!), I figured a good steak was in order. I ended up getting a NY Strip steak for $ 29 and Papa Jim ordered a scallops dish. The waitress first brought us our salads, which were probably the best part of the meal. The salads for cripe’s sake! The bread that was brought to our table was hard and not to my liking. Finally, the main entrees arrived. My steak was fine, but it had too much fat and grizzle for a $ 29 piece of meat. It was OK, but for the price and reputation I expected spectacular. Nope. The vegetables were fine but the baked potato was hard and not fluffy. Again, this might sound knit picky, but when you spend over $ 45 for a meal, it better be good. I was very disappointed. Even Papa Jim’s meal was below average and overpriced. AP, I know you liked the place, but I can’t justify the cost. Too expensive, even for per diem. Maybe that’s why there was no one in the place. I’m all for giving second chances to places, but the only reason why I would give On the Bone another chance is because someone else is paying for it. Sorry.

For this area of the city, I would venture to say that this is one of the best restaurants in the market. Great wine and food. I had the linguini seafood mix and it was OUTSTANDING! Seriously, you are in the Boston area, how could you not go with seafood? I loved it; fresh and plenty of flavor. I also sampled my friend’s grilled swordfish and it too was really fantastic. Add to it great service, and it does not get much better. So why not a 5-star? The décor and location; it is located in the lobby of the Wyndham Hotel and the décor is not the quality of a 5-star restaurant like Ruth Chris or NY Prime. But if you are in the area, don’t let that discourage you from dining here at On The Bone. I would go back without hesitation.

Went there for lunch with my wife. Nice ambiance and decent food. The $ 9 soup and salad bar she had was well worth its value. I had chowda and mushroom crostini. Nothing fancy but all nicely done. It’s really quiet at lunch time, prob. because not many know about the place, and it’s also a bit far from the road. So definitely a good place if you look to spend some undisturbed time.

This restaurant is located in the Wyndham Hotel in Andover. The food is here is really good for a hotel restaurant. They have recently renovated the bar and restaurant which includes colors of warm red and dark wood. I have always been for lunch and the menu includes a selection of sandwiches, soup, and everyday they have a carving station with fresh salad and soup as a choice. Overall this is a solid place to go for a quick business lunch.
