The Sitz is the place to go if you want to see a show while visiting Gwood we love it. I would give it 5 stars but I’m hoping someone is paying attention and they do something about the food. I will update and give that additional star if they do. The rest of the resort had good food but the Sitz still operates like something from a time throwback. Excellent service most of the time, great vibe. Best place to meet your friends when your out on the mountain skiing. Great place to get tickets on New Years or any other event.

I can’t speak for the food, but the Sitzmark is a great place to catch a concert. The venue is intimate and cozy, the ambience is fun(shout out to the painted ceilings and the wall décor), and there is a good variety of drinks available. My hubby and I recently saw The Young Dubliners there and had a great time; looking forward to the next good show: D

We spend New Year’s Eve here in late 2015/early 2016: compared to all the other places to eat in the Lodge this is the most lively, with the colorful«stained glass» that I think is really reflective paint? Great view of the slopes and people coming down from their runs, a nice big porch to sit by a the globe-enclosed fire. Decent comfort food with friendly service, big couches to hang out on in the back game room, all out comfy feel. We spend the new year’s eve party here: it was not as crowded as I would have expected, a cover band played grateful dead/fish and I didn’t know these composers but the crowd seemed to enjoy them quite a bit, not quite my taste but it was a great moment. The ballons came down in small amounts and we all kissed and drank and danced, the party was not extravagant but it was authentic and a nice night out. Luckily they had many buses back to the resort, the ice was so bad you could barely walk at all. An unlucky young man got busted for a fake ID and he decided to sprint on the ice, down he went, bumping all over, but he got away, and we got his wallet. The downhill torchlight ski event took place outside in the warm rain, a lot of locals were there. It seems to be the place to be if you are in Alaska for New Year!

I may be biased because I always stop in here when I’m skiing, but the Sitzmark has a lot more character and welcoming feel than a lot of the other places in Girdwood. They have standard pub food(so don’t get your hopes up for gourmet), but when you’re starving from being out in on the slopes all day, it’s pretty dang tasty. They cover all of their bases on beer and alcohol, but don’t expect a wide selection(it’s mostly local). I’ve never had a problem with service or waited too long for food. I think if you keep your standards realistic for this place, you and the Sitzmark will get along fine.

This is the place to be in Girdwood at night. Great drinks and food. We happened to be there on a night they were auctioning off ski patrol employees. Lots going on here.

When I’m at Alyeska there’s two places I go each time and this is one of them. You can’t not come down off the slopes and enjoy a beer and some grub here. It’s the best at the base for sure. It’s always crowded during the winter and always loud but that’s what makes it awesome. The clanking of ski boots and smell of dank clothes is only a plus haha there’s always events here too when people come to town.

The ceiling, the ceiling, the ceiling. My Flying Spaghetti Monster in Heaven, the ceiling. Yes, the ceiling is awesome here. It’s a great venue to get out of town(but not too far out of town) and see a band. The service is rather mediocre and tap selection is just OK. I get the vibe that you have to be part of the Girdwood community to get the attention of the bartenders here. I came here on a cloudy fall night, I’m sure the views are amazing on a bluebird winter day.

We’re here Sat nite during blueberry fest. Had the blueberry drink special. Too sweet. Switched to our usual drinks. Ordered the blueberry app special a fried green tomato with blueberry salsa. I could have come up with a better blueberry inspired app myself. Ordered the chicken wings, OK nothing special. Atmosphere/views/people-watching fantastic! Service was not good.

An interesting spot which I am sure is a lot of fun in-season, though we were there off-season. It’s a big place and there were maybe six people there, total. The bartender was nice but she didn’t really make a great mixed drink. We got the taco special and for the price it was certainly decent. Just ok.

What the heck? This place is great, and oddly cheap for the location. Great great great food, delivered hot and fresh, even when crowded. Good service and attentive bartenders. Out of the restaurants I’ve been to in the vicinity, it’s easily the best just by normal restaurant standards, of service, food, and prices. Their beer selection is small, but they’re well priced. But when you add in the bomb ass views, pool and fooseball tables, outdoor patio with fire pit, great concerts, and the awesome painted ceiling, it’s just a super fun stop on your Girdwood trips. I highly recommend this spot for sure. Check it out.

Excellent value for money offers Sitzmark for lunch in Aleyska. We had fresh beef tacos for 2USD each. Plus a refreshing pint of Papst beer for 3USD. Including the stunning view(OK the panorama windows need some cleaning), this is really a good place to enjoy an affordable lunch in the pricy Aleyska resort area.

Always a great place for a burger and beer after a hard morning of skiing or biking. That being said if you are not skiing and are looking for some good lunch Id look elsewhere. It gets so busy and loud with all the skiers and boarders. Not the best environment if your looking for a chill meal. It is a great place for late night entertainment. In the evening they often have live music from some pretty great talent. Thats the setting this place thrives on in my opinion.

This turned out to be a pretty nice spot. Good beer specials. Not a whole lot of beer offerings, but enough to satisfy a discernible palette. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. The food is nothing to write home about, but it’s better than most standard bar food. The ceiling is pretty neat. And I enjoyed the view and watching people go up and down the hill on the lifts. So overall, we had a nice experience here and I would return.

4 stars are based on the fabulous view, the great people watching, and the beautiful art of the ceiling. I had the Tostadas, which was served perfectly. It was hot and fresh. One of the best Tostadas I’ve ever had. My friend and kids had grilled cheese, hot dog and chicken strips. All average. Service was lacking, though friendly & helpful. Another review mentioned lack of napkins. Which happened to us, too. But there was a high volume of customers coming off the slopes. Napkin dispensers and/or pre placed silverware(they do this at Glacier Brewhouse) would be a great solution. Would I recommend a stop to eat? Definitely!

Classic abuse of a situational advantage. At the base of the ski slopes at the biggest resort in Alaska(Alyeska) they have prime real estate. The service was terrible to non-existant, the food bland, boring, greasy and waaaaay overpriced. So they have a good beer selection– is that hard to do? We got chili cheese fries(they were not good) and the waitress didn’t bring any napkins. Really? You don’t think we might need napkins with chili cheese fries? Way to take advantage of a captive audience and a prime location, only to deliver horrendous service and sub-par food.

While sitting in one of the lounge areas of Alyeska trying to figure out what we wanted to have for«Linner»(Lunch/DInner) since Seven Glaciers wasn’t open on the day we visited, we were glad when a local chimed in a suggested the Sitzmark. It sounded pretty good and we were looking to get a drink anyway. The Sitzmark has a great view of the slope and is easily accessible to those coming off the mountain. I ordered the Primavera soup(warm and creamy) and the Chimichanga and my friends ordered the short rib sloppy joe with tater tots and the short rib poutine with sweet potato fries. A couple of us had Alaskan ales and the other a glass of chardonnay. The food portions were good size, service was not bad considering how busy it was and everything tasted great. If we’re in the area again I would definitely stop in for a casual meal.

Lots of different beers on tap and a good selection of hot mixed drinks. The service is good, and the view of the mountain is just right. They have a lot of special nights here, and it would be fun to rent a condo and spend some time enjoying the nightlife at the Sitz.
