It is shocking to me that this place gets such good reviews. I just paid $ 27 for greasy deep-fried crab cakes and a house salad with rotten lettuce and chicken breast that tasted like a hockey puck. Everything was also way over-salted. On the bright side? Excellent service. Not enough to make me come back, ever, but excellent nonetheless.

First time here. Very nice atmosphere. Pricey but what you’d expect for a place like this. I had the halibut cheek special, which was out a this world. MY Wife had the ravioli which was magnificent to say the least. My son had the filet minion, which was a tasty treat indeed, tender and flavorful. Desert was a continuation of tasty delite. I don’t go the expensive resturants to often but this is one I’ll continue to exploit.

Really enjoyed the evening special, encrusted halibut and NY strip steak. Servers were attentive. Atmosphere is a bit stark, but it’s all about the food, right… F

Friendly service and classy atmosphere but not in my Top 10 Eats for Anchorage. I was impressed with their upside fuji apple cake with oatmeal ice cream because it was unique.

The Mocha Bourbon Pecan Torte is so worth it. It’s worth everything. Super rich, so you can easily share with 1 – 3 others, I’d say. But wow. If you love chocolate, this is the thing to get. The rest of my food was very good. The oyster had great texture and was definitely not overcooked as cooked oysters tend to be. The bacon-wrapped dates were honestly not that good, as the dates seemed sort of dry and didn’t have much flavor to them. I would recommend you try the lobster ravioli, as it seemed just as good and filling as the entrees for a lesser price.

Leave your fast food attitude at the door, this place is off the charts unexpected classy. Doesn’t look like much? Don’t worry! Food is taking some long time? Yes but it’s worth the wait! Costs a bit? It ought to, these chefs are top notch. We nearly left because it took so much time, and we are so glad we stayed. House salad, French onion soup, flank steak with a pineapple chutney type of glaze and buttery mashed potatoes, grilled vegies and fresh hand made deserts like rum and raisin ice cream and lemon cheesecake with blueberry compote… omg sorry to find it on our last day in AK.

I’m impressed. Years ago when it first opened my parents and I had a terrible experience, so bad I haven’t been back since until today… And I’m so glad I did! Service was great. Attentive and friendly, the staff took care of us. Food was good too! I enjoyed the black bean hummus. It was a pleasant surprise and the sweet potato flatbread paired nicely. My salad was great. I loved the miso dressing! The added chicken breast was worth it. My friend’s quiche was ok… It wasn’t as savory as I hoped it would be. I could barely taste the pear and brie. But boy oh boy was the crème brûlée fabulous. Highly recommend the special dessert selection. Overall I liked my second experience a lot better and plan to go back!

Pretty good, had dates for starters which was a little different and tasted nice. My main course was the hail bet but the rice and lack of sauce just made the meal taste pretty dry. My buddy had the scallops which he said was awesome. Had green tea crime brûlée for dessert which was delicious.

Business dinner! I don’t get out much in Anchorage, but when I do, the company is buying. This is a top notch joint outside of downtown. If your are staying at the Embassy suites, or I think there’s a Marriott near by, its worth a short walk over. The food is grat and the dervice is friendly.

Kinley’s is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Anchorage. We eat here quite a bit and I have yet to have a dish that isn’t good. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the interior is beautiful and clean. My husband highly recommends the bratwurst. He orders it every time!

We wanted to try something different for date night and decided to go to Kinley’s with some friends because they have been before and have nothing but praise for the place. When we arrived it was busy, as expected for a Friday evening. We snagged some seats at the bar when they became available. The bartender was attentive and helpful. He listened to us discussing the wines, and actually made suggestions based off of what we were saying. I settled on the Temperanillo, which was medium bodied and smooth. I ordered the bacon wrapped dates as appetizers, and I can honestly tell you it was one of the best appetizers I have ever had. The crispy bacon surrounding the juicy dates, when drizzled with the warm garlic butter was delectable. My husband had the crab cakes as an appetizer, they were not traditional crab cakes, in the sense that they were not just crab, but the taste was good and the ginger/soy aioli was a great compliment to the dish. For our entrée’s my husband selected the short rib and I selected the special of the day. The short rib was Asian braised beef, moist and tender. The meat was served with jasmine rice and bok choy, which complimented the succulent beef well. My dish, the special of the day was a delight for a German girl like me. The special consisted of pork tenderloin, stuffed with apples, cabbage and raisins, served over a tangy gravy, with broccoli, julienne carrots and rice as the sides. The combination of these flavors was truly artistic! The only downfall is it is not a regular menu item, which if it were I’m sure it would be a hit! For dessert, I selected the Mocha bourbon pecan torte. My friend had told me of this masterpiece and therefore I had to taste for myself. When the server brought it out, my mouth dropped. It is literally a towering chocolate delight. The chocolate cake is moist and rich thanks to the espresso it soaks in. There is a pecan ganache layer inside and a hard chocolate surrounding the cake. There is a mocha/coffee/caramel crème topping and drizzle down the side which gives it a little bit of saltiness and of course there is the sugar art paper on the top that tastes like a strip of cotton candy. Saving room for dessert at Kinley’s is a must! Overall, Kinleys’ was amazing and I highly recommend it! There is ample parking, the service is great, the food is amazing and the price is reasonable for this market averaging $ 25 – 30 per person for a main dish. I am already looking forward to our next trip to Kinley’s!

We had the Filet Mignon and the Filet itself was delicious, however, we had to remove the mountains of cheese put on top of it. The potatoes that came with it were«rubber» like, in the same fashion as if they were microwaved. I would have been able to overlook everything if it wasn’t for the 25 minutes it took our server to bring us our drinks and get our order for the dinner… Which took another 25 minutes after we received our drinks. I don’t know how to explain it, is like the customer service was AMAZING every time the waiter came to our table… But it took him a billion years to come, so I just don’t know how I feel about it. Let me know what your thoughts are on this. Was this a one time thing? Should I give it another try?

The hubby and I had date night and we ate here for the very first time before the symphony. We wish we would’ve tried this place out before now. We were pleasantly surprised with just how awesome the service and the food was. The servers and bus boys were very attentive and we never once had to ask for anything. We’ll definitely be back soon!

I’m still happy with this place. My friends and I had made plans to see«The Theory Of Everything.» We decided to make a night of it and chose this place to have our before-cinematic-adventure-night dinner. Came in and started with the bacon wrapped dates and the lobster ravioli; only criticism is that the rav was a bit tough this time around, like the dough was too thick. Also, I ordered the daily soup, which was a roasted red pepper purée, and it was a nice light start. For dinner I decided to try to the special because the server was raving about it. I was glad I went with it as all the flavors paired nicely together(previously a server raved about the halibut cheeks special, which I ordered and was sorely disappointed and had trepidations on this venture). We all enjoyed our food and experience, though when I asked if I could have some of the app plates removed the server said the busser would get them and then walked away. I’ve had him before, and was not really taken aback by the attitude, but it was a little annoying to have to maneuver around them to taste each others meals, while said only busser was running around refilling waters and removing/boxing dinners. Last gripe was the special request, and it wasn’t too big: When I made my reservations via Open Table my special request was to be sang the daily specials. Sadly, this request was not provided but I will come again.

On my recent trip to Alaska I had the fortune to visit this restaurant. We tried a variety of things in the menu. The bacon wrapped dates were my favorite appetizer. They were awesome! I could have eaten 10 of them. The crab cakes were ok and the lobster ravioli was really good. For the entrees we had a few different ones, but the best two(by far) were the duck and the scallops. I though the scallops were to die for. Next time I am in Anchorage I will make sure to go back.

What a pleasant surprise! I came here because I wanted something quick before a movie and didn’t want to slog through the tourist masses(not that there’s anything wrong with that) at Moose’s Tooth. This place looked kinda fancy(it is, for Anchorage) when I first walked in… like it wouldn’t even have a bar and I’d be sitting at a table-clothed table all by my lonesome but… I confidently walked deeper into the restaurant and… found a bar in the back! Service was snappy, tap list was small but the tap selection was EXCELLENT. Who, other than Humpy’s, has a DOUBLEIPA consistently on tap? And from Two Beers in Seattle, no less! I was hungry but not hangry so I just got an appetizer, I chose the Ahi Tacos. I choose wisely. Extremely high quality rare Ahi and the tacos were a very original take. Lots of greens and served in uniquely-shaped hard taco shells. Sounds odd, but it really worked. Who knew there was any taco-shaped box to think outside of? Not me till I came here! One regret I have, that I’ll try to help you with: AHITACOSAREFOURDOLLARSCHEAPER from 4pm-6pm! I think I got here at like 6:08, bummer. Maybe next time! Actually, no. Next time I will get a full-fledged menu item, cannot wait to see what the rest of the menu tastes like. I am very close to saying something rash like«best food in Anchorage», but I cannot do that until I sample the main menu. This place could easily«phone-it-in», being located so close to what is arguably the most popular place to eat in Anchorage. Just feast off Moose’s Tooth’s tasty touristy scraps! But they don’t, they have their own thing going on. This is a destination in it’s own right. Maybe this little area of town is becoming ground zero for awesome food that lives up to the hype? I hope so! P. S. cool logo, dudes.

The only meal I have had here that was just slightly disappointing was a vegetarian meal. I like my meat, so I don’t know why I even ventured off the path. Kinleys has a pretty good happy hour, though I wish there were more items to choose from. The calamari here is a no-brainer — get it and you will love it. Thick and tender, this squid is cut steak style, lightly sautéed and then drenched in an herb beurre blanc, AKA, butter central. The ahi tacos are delicious(fresh tuna, delicious cabbage ruffage and crispy wonton), though a bit expensive for what you get. Oysters, duck confit and bacon wrapped dates are absolutely top notch. The owner and chef of Kinleys came from Jen’s and I consider him to be just as good, if not better, then Jen’s was. Brett is innovative in his dishes and experiments with ingredients & pairings in a fashion that I don’t find in many restaurants around Anchorage. The dishes are simply bursting with interesting flavors. My favorite meals here are: lamb shank(the style and accompaniments change monthly), the duck, almond crusted halibut filet, scallops, & filet mignon. This place is serious about temperature and I find they get it spot on. The seafood is always tender and flaky — never dried out. I almost always buy a bottle of wine when I dine here with another — quantity and price –wise, it makes more sense. They have an eclectic beer selection as well. If you have a question, a shout out to Bradford, the bartender most nights — he’ll get you hooked up with something you’ll enjoy.
