Golden Donuts

Always fresh. Always fast. Always courteous. Coffee, donuts, a place to sit or drive thru. Best in Anchorage! Wish they’d come to the valley! 10x better than Dino’s.

My favorite place to get doughnuts. I honestly refuse to pay for doughnuts anywhere else! I’ve been coming here for a year and a half, and it’s great every time! I come with friends all the time. The best part about it is that they’re open 24 hours, so I can come at 12 in the afternoon and 12 at night. Sometimes they are low on doughnuts, but it’s just an opportunity to try the others! Usually really big doughnuts so just two fills me up. Would recommend to anybody in anchorage who likes good doughnuts, do not settle for anything less!

The best donuts in Anchorage! DoNOT get the fancy donuts they are too sweet and not worth it. Great donuts, poorly managed business. I phoned this place several times throughout this week and they are always out of donuts.
I was around the area this evening, Saturday @ 0745, and AGAIN no donuts! The Lady at the counter said that they will cook more around 11pm. However, this is a ²⁴⁄₇ donut establishment and no donuts? Maybe they should change their hours and close the shop for prep time — ²⁴⁄₇ is misleading.
If they claim that they serve coffee and that’s the reason they open ²⁴⁄₇ then they should consider changing the sign to Golden Coffee.

This was our second time going to golden donuts and the second time they were out of donuts. Don’t waste your time driving here!

Great donuts! We’ve been here a few times and we always enjoy it. The staff isn’t always very friendly, which is why it’s just four stars. I will continue to come here!

It says they are open ²⁴⁄₇ but apparently they close at 3P on Sunday’s and do not open up again until Monday night/​Tuesday morning. Something my husband and I did not know until we drove all the way there and saw a small sign stating same on the door. So disappointed! We ended up just driving to Fred Meyer and getting donuts there.

I drove across town today (Saturday 2pm) to pick up some donuts, but when I got there they didn’t have a single donut in the store. Now, I have not been to business school, but I just developed a three phase business plan to help out Golden Donuts…

How does a 24 hour donut store not have any donuts to sell? With Krispy Kreme opening up nearby next spring, Golden Donuts better get their shit together or it will be lights out. I can pretty much guarantee that there will never be a day when Krispy Kreme’s shelves will be devoid of donuts…

I love this place. Its open ²⁴⁄₇ a huge help when I am well hung over or still drunk. I live in walking distance so its safe to walk. Normally I don’t go drunk but I do go hung over. They have all the regular donuts but they also have some fun ones. I recommend a special dozen if you have never been. Thats a great way to check them out and try new things.

This is a place I look forward to visiting every time I come home to Alaska to visit family and friends. They’ll even give you a schedule so you can pick up your favorite variety fresh out of the fryer. What could be better!

Don’t expect a donut here until July 7, 2015. We dropped people off at the airport and drove the almost 5 miles back to here to find them closed for a month. Don’t mean to skew the star ratings but people need to know they are not open.

This is a good donut shop with a lot of variety. They are open 24 hours a day so they are pretty well stocked as opposed to when you walk into other donut shops later in the day (Dino’s donuts). They were standard, nothing crazy or substantial. They have an old donut shop kind of feel. The staff wasn’t overly friendly, but enough. I would come back again if I had another craving.

Good donuts but HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I hope the owners read this review. My wife and I stopped here for the first (and now only) time for a cup of coffee and a donut. Went up to the counter to order. The only employee was a chubby girl with blue hair. She just stood there looking at us. No «welcome» or «may I help you». So i asked her about one of the donuts and she literally rolled her eyes at me and said that it was «uh, crème filled», as if I was inconvieniencing her. As she rang us up my wife noticed that someone had left their sunglasses and keys on the counter. I told her and she sneered «you’re like the 5^th person who’s told me that». So it’d be too much for you to ask the 4 customers sitting down if they left their keys there? There was hardly anyone there and apparently she couldn’t care less about the customers. As we were sitting down an older lady was getting ready to leave and I could tell she was panicking, looking for her keys. I told her they were at the counter. If the owner is reading this, you should teach your employees some basic customer service skills. We loved the donuts but will look for another donut place.

The donut is okay, but the staff is RUDE. The donuts didn’t have a label, so I ask her about it. She answered me in a manner like it was some obvious matter-​of-​fact that I should have learned from preschool. Would not come back once I find another donut store in town.

Great donuts! The highlights for me: the very fluffy, yeasty plain glazed, the cherry swirl fritter, anything with the chocolate glaze, the crullers, the apple-​filled, and definitely the jelly-​filled. I’m not usually partial to jelly-​filled donuts, but their’s were perfect! The jelly was not too sweet, and there was tons of it. Yum.
I get why people would complain about the service. The person helping us wasn’t super friendly, but she wasn’t rude either. And hey, she handed us our donuts, so I’m not complaining!
We’ve been both to Golden Donuts and Dino’s Donuts, and while both are good, I think we prefer Golden. Recommended!
Also love that we could buy donuts at dinner time.

LOVE THEIR DONUTS! Whenever I get a sweet tooth I head over to Golden Donuts. Their donuts are fresh but you gotta get them quick because they sell out fast!

I came in around 6pm. They had a large and great selection to choose from and they were delicious! The staff was also very friendly. The best part… THEY’RE 24 hrs!

I have been craving donuts and coffee while freezing my butt here in Alaska. There is not really a good place to buy them in Eagle River, but Anchorage has quite a few options. One morning my brother in-​law drove down to Golden Donuts and bought a dozen for us to eat. These are pretty good and I do not see why everyone else had complaints. It was warm, fresh, and a good variety of flavors. I fell in love with their coconut flakes covered donuts. It was such a nice balance of flavor and anything with coconut gets extra points with me. The glazed was pretty standard and so was the powdered. While it is nothing really amazing of a donut shop, it is good and pretty tasty to me. I would order from them again.

I am not sure why this place isn’t a 5 star…
I always hear people complain that we don’t have a K.K. here and I always ask why? It’s like wishing we had a Mc Donald’s where Tommy’s Burger Stop is. G.D. is a locally owned family business.
Also they support lost and hungry students that roam during the night looking for wifi.
I whole heartedly love this place– I feel fortunate to be able to go here.
Also, I think the cook times vary, I saw a reviewer say they only make donuts once a day at 2am. I went there recently at 9:00 at night and got a deliciously fresh double chocolate.

I’ve been craving doughnuts for a while, and since there aren’t many doughnut shops in town we thought we’d try this place out. Many of our friends have been raving about it too.
At first I was perplexed by the building it self. This establishment appears to be located in what may have been a bank with drive thru lanes. I’m pretty sure it must’ve been a bank at some point.
But anyhow the donuts were pretty good. I rate this 3 stars because for a doughnut shop I expected a very fresh donut, the kind that’s light and fluffy, warm, and the glaze just drips off the doughnut, making a party for your taste buds. What I got was a soft but cold donut and the glaze was just crusty more than anything. The glaze also looked yellow… I don’t know if that’s normal, but I still enjoyed and devoured this thing before we even left the lot.
I don’t know, I guess I was hoping for something more. I’ll probably check it out another time. The prices are reasonable and the service is nothing remarkable but still a decent doughnut and worth giving this place a try.

This place has rude staff! Went through drive thru and girl with purple hair was rude … And rushed us. Probably won’t be back.
