I never thought I would be saying good things about a buffet, but Golden Corral in Anchorage turned me from the dark side. These people have earned my respect. Unlike buffets you see in Vegas or other tourist towns, you can’t find one staff member who is not smiling and pleasant! They keep everything clean and the atmosphere is always upbeat. If you are in the mood for steak, save some money and try this place. Forget about all the other choices in the buffet line and just eat the steaks. Once in a while, if you’re lucky, you’ll get a cut as good as a fifty dollar filet mignon found downtown. On the average, the steaks are still pretty darn tasty. I wish the place was quieter and had a classy atmosphere, but then again, for around $ 20. you can’t have it all…

Nasty breakfast. Typical buffet slop. I found a hair in my eggs.

So I just left with a pare try unpleasant experience. So we decided to eat out at Golden Corral because of our large group and their large selection. Their food has never really been great or anything to brag about, but it has never been awful. all except for today when we had the pleasure to flick a cockroach out of the green beans!!! I am glad I hadn’t started eating! I quickly put everything down everything and got a refund. The manager assured me that they were going to fix the problem, but I do not see myself ever returning after that.

We moved 2 tables together to seat my family of 6. We where told we can’t do that and Sara decided to start moving the table back. While we are sitting at the table. We decided that we where done and asks for a refund. Since we had not even gotten plates yet. Once again it reminded me why I don’t like the restaurant. Mediocre food and crappy staff. You earned your one star, great job.

Was talked into stopping for dinner by 3 hungry teenagers in the car. Sounds good in theory but clearly not a bargain. Tiny tables that are too close for comfort and steam tables full of well-passed-prime offerings. The staff was nice and very attentive. Had better buffets elsewhere.

This place. Sigh. #1 is it needs more space between tables. I hate getting up and feeling like im sticking my ass in people’s faces and/or food. Im not a very big woman, either. The food really depends on who is cooking or preparing. Sometimes its great other times its crap. I’ve never been disappointed with the salad bar and i love that they have baked sweet potatoes. We go every now and then. It’s fun for kids. But don’t eat off that chocolate fountain. I always see kids sticking their fingers in it. Lol

We ate at Golden Corral this morning and had a very disappointing experience. I attempted to eat the scrambled eggs, but I stopped due to a distinct metallic/chemical taste in the food. I had to run to the bathroom because I was feeling nauseous after 2 bites of their eggs. I subsequently vomited. I was feeling healthy all morning, until I ate their scrambled eggs. I spoke to the manager promptly after I left the bathroom. He immediately took a defensive stance and repeated himself several times, saying«they are grade A pasteurized eggs». He didn’t offer an apology or even a glass of water. I told him to try the eggs for himself. A few other customers also complained about the taste, forcing him to act on this. Several minutes later, he came back claiming he tried them and«they tasted fine.» He said he removed them, only after multiple complaints. The manager lacked a sense of caring and seemed to resent us for complaining. This restaurant does not seem to understand«the customer is always right». We are pretty reasonable people, so I believe it’s reasonable to write this review so all of you can avoid this restaurant.

Looking for breakfast options close to our hotel, I figured out that the early bird here wasn’t much different than a coffee and breakfast sandwich at the Starbucks. I didn’t have high expectations coming in and as long as you realize that you’re coming to a Golden Corral buffet, not a five star restaurant, this place will do. They had a good selection of food and some unique(fried bacon) and odd(salad???) breakfast items. Typical buffet food– lots of fried items and of so-so quality, but you’ll definitely get your fill.

yes it is mass produced food but these folk bent over backwards to supply on short notice food for 100 people at our event. The food was great and complimented by our guests. I am now a regular of the place. Where else can you get all you can eat and lots of variety! Only down side sometimes its a bit salty.

I arrived at the restaurant tonight after driving for 30 minutes to get there only to find that they had already locked the doors. It was 8:57 pm. I understand that I was cutting close, but that is pretty frustrating. There was also a young man cleaning the windows in the entry and he just ignored me. I called to let the manager know and her only response was that they close the doors at 9:00. I will definitely call the general manager and the owners tomorrow.

Let’s be real for second. Everyone complains saying,“Golden Coral is gross!” or «They just have the same food.» In my opinion, if you’re going here you should know what to expect and what you’re paying for. The food isn’t really that bad at all. It’s kind of sad that this review comes off defensive but I’m just honest. Most all buffets in Anchorage are over priced with mediocre food. Golden Coral falls under that category as all others do. It’s one of the only«American» food buffets and it’s not that bad. I enjoy the Fried Chicken a lot and everything else is similar quality to other similar restaurants. I gave it 3 stars mostly for the prices.

A little lack-luster. I feel that this place is overpriced for what you get. It is $ 35 for two people including drinks, but one cannot eat $ 15 worth of food in one sitting. When you first arrive it takes a bit of time to pay and get your drink as there is only one cashier working the front and with my experience she was in no hurry to get the line moving. Once you get your drink, you then seat yourself which is nice as you can scout out a comfortable table. Then you grab a plate and find what looks appealing to you. The choices are rather generic and bland, like mac & cheese, meatloaf, chicken wings, etc. It is rather cheap food that really doesn’t impress. There is very little selection when it comes to dessert options as well. Overall, I was not too impressed with this place for the money. I feel there are other buffet style restaurants in Anchorage that has better food for the same price. Either way, when you go to a buffet, you can’t expect to be able to eat $ 15 worth of food in one sitting.

Pretty much what you’d expect from a Golden Corral. Lots of variety, and everything was pretty good. If you’re expecting a nice, quiet dining experience, this is not your place. The server for our table was very nice and helpful; the rest of the service staff seemed very indifferent.

You get what you pay for — some of the food is cheap, and some of it is pretty decent. It’s a big buffet, so there’s lots to choose from. I enjoy my experiences here, usually.

This place is just bad. Sorry. This location really needs to have a couple workers walking on the outside of the service area. I saw people using their hands, grabbing food. Nasty! My plate had dried food on it. Come on! Do not eat here!

My husband and I went to Golden Corral last fall and really liked it. The GC in my other hometown is horrible, but this one is less expensive and much tastier. Our server abandoned us right at the start and another came and gave us great service. The food was fresh and hot. Of course buffets don’t have gourmet food; that’s not what buffets are about. Buffets are all about quantity over quality. I eat enough to get as bloated as a sow, feel overstuffed enough to throw up, and waddle away to my car. So if I get decent food at a buffet, I’m happy. I will return to this GC in the future. As an aside, I have been to several Golden Corrals over the past many years and have noticed over the last three years or so that the service has become practically nonexistent at all of them. Forget having a server come to your table even to accomplish their minor task of removing dishes and refilling drinks. If you want any service at all, I suggest you patronize another restaurant.

Nothing to brag about here, but being from California I had to try it out just to see what the fuzz is all about, there was no line, no waiting time, I’ve seen an almost 2 hrs wait at my local GC so that’s pretty much why I had to give it a shot in Anchorage, it wasn’t horrible but it also was not memorable in any way, price was good, food and selection was ok, unremarkably just ok, the patrons, well… someone compared it to being the Walmart of Foods and they nailed it.

The food was decent but nothing to rave about. The Cleanliness of the restaurant was the issue for me. There were food on the floor and on top of the buffet area. Maybe they need more workers to keep the buffet lines clean and patrol the dining areas. However, our server was nice and refilled our drinks quite often.

I remember when this place used to be good, when they brought you fresh buns to your table, that was when they first opened. The food seems to get worse each time I go. And they’ve raised the price so high it’s not even worth going. I’ll give them two stars for their dessert bar.
