I live in Austin TX and go down to Anahuac to visit my parents every couple of weeks. Every time my husband and I go down we make it a point to eat here. The Tex Mex is some of the best I’ve ever had. The food isn’t fancy, but it is some of the most flavorful, authentic I’ve had, and very inexpensive. The beef fajitas are hands down the best I’ve ever had. In response to a previous post — you’re right, the onions on the fajitas do not retain much physical integrity — BECAUSETHEYARECARAMELIZED — as fajita onions should be! They are the most delicious, flavorful onions I’ve had! The tortillas are made in house and are delicious as well. The enchiladas are wonderful and have the most delicious gravy over top of them — it’s hard to find that delicious gravy at Tex mex restaurants. The green sauce is amazing. All in all, absolutely delicious! The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because it is in need of some TLC. There is a counter that has a couple beer bottles on top that should be redone to actually look like a bar. The interior needs a serious makeover. I’m not going to lie, the first time I walked in I did not want to eat there(but my parents love the place so I could not insult their invitation). If you can get over the interior, you will find yourself eating darn good Tex Mex.

Great Mexican food in the small town of Anahuac. Since they got certified to sell alcohol a couple of years ago, the restaurant has gotten even better(I guess from extra income from sales). The food is good and served fairly quickly. The staff is usually high schoolers or other local young folks who are always nice. They sell your normal Mexican cuisine plus a few local seafood favorites. They also take phone orders which can be picked up. There has never been a wait for a table the times I have been there, because it’s a small town. I highly recommend a visit to Nopalitos in Anahuac.

Oh, Nopalitos, you are truly a Tex-Mex staple for this small community. Being the only Tex-Mex place in town has its advantages. For one, this is the only place in town where you can go sit down, eat all the tortilla chips your little heart desires, and leave their establishment smelling like Tex-Mex food without having to drive twenty to thirty minutes. I have been going to Nopalitos since I was in my teens. The menu items have stayed the same. Two big changes that they have had added in the past year, year and a half, maybe two I don’t remember, was the fact that the restaurant got TABC certified, so yay, because now they can serve beer and their selection has massively grown since their first alcoholic weekend launch and the other thing that was added was the sell of sopapillas! Watch up, here comes the carb/sugar rush! Another big thing that has changed and doesn’t have to deal with the menu(well, besides the fact that they did get new menus) is their décor. Be careful at night, it might be hard to spot the restaurant since you are in a small town where there are no lights and since they decided to paint it brown, it fits right into the darkness. The queso, green sauce, guacamole, and red sauce are delicious. My favorite items include the mini taco salad, cheese enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, and their deliciously, sinfully, deep fried chimichanga. So, if you are ever in Anahuac(Which I really don’t know why unless you’re in town for Gatorfest, an annual festival where locals eat alligators… Yes, I have ate gator. It taste just like chicken, seriously.) and are craving Tex-Mex, give me a call and I’ll meet you at Nops, as the locals call it. Just beware of the lunch rush. Nops, indeed.

Great food, good prices, good service! Looks a bit run down, but great otherwise! Not $$$$ more like $$ Is actually in the middle of Anahuac city, not in a field as the Unilocal app shows

Restaurant: Outdated, no modernization. Service: Good! Food: Food could definitely be worse, but it definitely be A LOT better. The food lacks anything special and is as generic as Tex-Mex can get. Compared to eating at a really good Mexican restaurant that will cook fajitas just rite, and bring them out with the onions and bell peppers just heated through enough to where they still retain a slight bite to them, at Nopalitos prepare to have a plate of fajitas with slop brought out to you. Quality of the ingredients is also sub par. Do not go to Nopalitos expecting to get a serving of the best of any dish you’ve ever had. Their queso and frijoles a la charra are pretty good… salsa not so much. While i have had A LOT worse salsa, Nopalitos rendition would go well with pasta as a spicy spaghetti sauce. Would i recommend Nopallitos? If you are in or driving through Anahuac, TX for some reason and are in the mood for Mexican food, stop by, just do not expect anything like you could get at a real taco shop in Houston or San Antonio or even a more modernized/Americanized Mexican restaurant like Pappasitos.

This is one of the few good places in Anahuac. The décor is «rough» but the food is good. Nothing special but I think it is priced well and served quickly at lunch. The crawfish enchiladas are a good choice if you want something different.
