Throwbacks has changed quite a bit since the first time I went in there for the Saints vs 49ers during last seasons NFL playoffs. At that time it had lousy food, poor beer selection and just looked like a bar that needed some TLC. Well it got that TLC and has made some significant upgrades! From the bar which has gotten a face lift to the food that is actually something to be proud to serve they have made some great moves. The food this time around was some quality stuff! The nachos had freshly melted cheese, pico de gallo made right there in the kitchen, topped with some moist chicken breast, and home made chips. A significant upgrade! I’ve had a burger here too and it was quite satisfying! The beer selection is much better as well, before when I asked for an IPA all I got was a blank stare and a suggestion to try the Blue Moon or the hard cider… REALLY?! Now they carry local brews from Noble, Anaheim Brewery and Bootleggers as well as a few select craft beers and the standard fare you would expect from a bar. Not a massive selection but definitely an upgrade from where it was. They also have a liquor license now so you can get down on vodka tonics if you don’t dig on brews. The service is improved as well, not only was my glass kept full by my barkeep but she was making sure there wasn’t a dry glass at the bar! They offer a free shuttle to and from the Angels games which totally rules too. So stop in before a game and enjoy some drinks then hop on the bus and let the party continue! The biggest bummer though is they took out the pool table, but I’ll get over it after a few drinks!

This is a good place to watch a game but there are a couple of things that went wrong during our initial visit. #1. They ran out of wings on $.25 wing Wednesday, the opening night for NFL. #2. Served a mixed drink with flat tonic, but made it right once we brought it up. All in all I would still recommend it.

I remember reading a review from Hazel Q a while back and decided I needed to try this place I have passed by so many times. I bookmarked it and have now made it an almost weekly ritual. You walk into throwbacks and you get a friendly vibe. You feel comfortable right away unlike some local bars I’ve been to lately. A pretty big place with a bunch of big screens to catch your favorite game. FREE Pool tables to play on. Darts too. Beer pong? Cool tunes from the j-box, no hip hop, mostly classic rock. The place is littered with all kinds of cool sports memorabilia from the past including many local teams and stars. The staff here is pretty chill too not the robots like you find at other places. Drinks: Just ask Robert the bartender and he’ll hook you up with one of dozens of beers, including very many on tap, even locals from Noble & Anaheim brewery’s. There are daily and happy hour specials too(Cheapo deals) you will be happy. But regular prices from $ 3-$ 6 ain’t bad either. Food: The bar food here is pretty tasty and easy on your wallet too. Happy hour specials like the Monday build your own burger $ 1+, $ 1 Taco Tuesdays 25 cent wing(buffalo is the best) Wednesdays or the regular menu stuff from $ 7 – 8 will make your tummy happy. Ask for Irish nachos made with tater tots! Bonus: They even have a shuttle bus that will drop off and pick you up at Throwbacks before and after all Angels home games… Continue the party, enjoy the game and no DUI. If only they went to Dodger games(shush don’t tell them I wear Blue). I’ll be back!

I’ll start off by saying that the only reason I started going to Throwbacks is because the Irisher shut down and my fav bartender, Andy, started working here. I’ve been there a handful of times, mostly to watch the hockey games. Andy was fabulous as always, really makes you feel at home. I’ve met a few other bartenders which were nice but didn’t really take the time to chat with anyone. Food is decent but nothing that blows my mind. I know the alcohol situation bugs a lot of people but they were approved for a liquor license and will start selling it soon. I think I heard August. You can follow them on Facebook to see all their specials which is cool. However, I’m pretty sure the last time I was there I was WAY overcharged but since the receipt doesn’t list my items I couldn’t prove it. The bartender was some guy that seemed kinda moody so I just paid and left. And that was the last time I’ve been there. The location does kind of suck since it is a one way street but it’s close to my house and I love sports bars so I was excited to make this my new regular spot but now I only go there if I know Andy is working…

Y– Unilocal Review E– Everything Food & Drinks L– Likeability P– Parking & Location Y– Unilocal Review — 3 out of 5. E– Everything Food & Drinks Food– I had wings and a side of fries. The wings kinda had a unique favor. Not really sure if I would get them again. Weren’t bad but weren’t something I would crave to go and get. The side of fries was actually really good. Drinks– Lots of beers on draft(No pear cidar! Said they«always» have it but were out) and something that absolutely shocked me was that they didn’t have LIQUOR! How do you not serve liquor and call yourself a bar. That is embarrassing in my opinion. Throwbacks needs to add a full bar. I don’t know if they know bar facts but mixed drinks(especially well drinks) are one of the highest profitable items a bar or restaurant can have. L– Likeability I like the location as far as the closeness to Angels stadium, Honda Center and dland. It is pretty clear where it is cause you can see the sign from Katella. BUT(yes there always seems to be a but with me haha) I can’t stand that it is one a way street. Literally like 100 feet from the street yet you have to drive a mile out of your way to get back to Katella. Also, the whole bar/restaurant thing in an industrial area just kills it for me. I know it is petty but it does bother me. Also, another thing is that it was a little dusty and had totes with holiday stuff just sitting above a wall near the bar. Looked cheap and not a quality place to store stuff. I can’t stand when places do stuff like this. P– Parking & Location Lots of parking(see above about my pet peeve for for the location lol) So overall, I LOVE that is all about oc sports. Go Ducks and Angels! I had a great server. She was fun and made the mediocre experience a lot better. But, it lacks the little things that make it a place that I really want to come back to…

Ah, now this was the place for the boys and I to go to during UFC fight nights couple years back. Let me tell you guys, this place used to get pretty crazy and packed! I came back more recently with my homie to watch another UFC fight and noticed it was basically empty. Maybe I came on the wrong day? Overall fun place!

Throwbacks is just a stone’s throw away from my office, offering beer(no liquor) and giving it to you large in a giant plastic cup(if that suits your fancy). I’ve only been here once, but so far I like what I see — it gets 4 stars for being walking distance from my work and not as run-down as some other places in the area. There weren’t too many people there on a Tuesday afternoon, so our group crowded around a table. Service was good, fast, but there seemed to be a lot of beers that were«out» on the day we showed up, so that was a bit of a bummer for some of the folks I was with. However, they do offer the tall cans of PBR, so if you’re a fan, grab one and save yourself a few bucks from the plastic cup beers they serve. I came by here with co-workers as a stopover before we headed over to an Angels game. I got myself a Hefeweizen(large), which set me back less than $ 10. Throwbacks has a free shuttle that operates before the game and after it closes, which means free parking for you. Their beers are reasonably priced in comparison to Angels Stadium, so it’s a good place to get your pre-game on. I’ll have to stop by here on a non-game night to see if it’s as noteworthy as everyone else says it is.

I love this bar. My boyfriend and I just started coming here after our weekend trips to Disneyland. We wanted to find a local bar away from the tourists of Downtown Disney to enjoy the NBA playoffs… so glad we found this place on Unilocal. The beer is cheap and the food is really really good… I love the tater tots and the california dog. They have a pretty decent menu with a lot of different bar food I’d love to try. The most important thing about this sports bar is that it’s chill and I like how it wasn’t overly crowded… but, we did come here on the weekend and not during an Angel’s game, so I’m sure it’s a different atmosphere then… the bartender takes both your drink and food order and is super chill. and he even remembered us when we came back a second time around… that’s a definite, plus… right? =)

Middle of the week, non-game day. Bar had some regulars, a couple of people playing pool and all the tv’s were on a hockey game or baseball… The Dude was happy. One guy taking food orders and bar orders. He was a «No worries» type of guy. When you thanked him he would always say«No worries» He was cool, checked=up on us, brought us our food/drinks and napkins. Dude had a beer and California burger. Huge burger with typical veg and added bacon and avocado. Yummy and juicy! I had a salad — was good and basic. Because I knew Dude would give me a bite of his burger. We also ordered Wings — they were really good! Good kick of heat at the end, nice big pieces. Could of eaten the whole order by myself good! I can imagine this place being popular during home games being so close to Angels Stadium. Not a whole lot of tables so get there early enough. Prices weren’t too bad.

This sports bar is a stone’s throw from Angels Stadium. Maybe a little further, but the best things about this place are 25cent wing night(Wednesday), complimentary bus to/fro Angel home games all season and, did I mention a bus ride to and from Angels baseball games?! You can drink on the bus, just finish up before you get to the stadium. These guys can cook some decent sports bar grub as well. The wings are really plump and tasty and they have $ 1 burger nights on Monday and Friday(I think). Many beers on tap, a pool table and live music rounds out the reasons to head to Throwbacks. And, of course they have a plethora of TVs piping in hockey, football(both American and foreign), basketball, etc. Overall, good grub, great deals and a ride to/from Angels games — stay safe, no DUIs!

I’ve been here a few times, but only in the afternoons. Nonetheless, this place is a pretty cool sports bar. The atmosphere is reallyy chill. They have an internet jukebox, tons of big tvs on the wall with a different game on each of them, and there’s plenty of room so you won’t feel crowded. In the afternoons, it’s not that crowded, but you’ll see that they have regulars stopping by. Even so, it doesn’t get too loud where you can’t carry a conversation with someone. I actually didn’t know they had real food here, since I’ve only had some of their beeres, at reallyyy good prices. I was able to try something off of the huge menu the other day and I’m so glad I did! There’s so much on their menu and they’re all about $ 10 or less. I really wasn’t sure on what to get, so I asked our server/bartender, Jessica, what she recommended. She suggested the bacon wrapped hot dog with tater tots. Hands down, one of the best hot dogs I’ve had in a while. It was covered in ketchup, onions, mustard, and wrapped in a crispy piece of bacon on a huge bun. So good! I don’t even like mustard, but mixed in with everything else, I didn’t care. In addition to being so delectable, it was pretty huge too(«that’s what she said…» haha). And the tater tots! They were the best I’ve ever had! They had some sorta seasoning on it that made it amazingggggg. It definitely made everything so much better. I’m so glad Jessica recommended it. Anyways, the food here is awesome, there are tons of beers on tap, and prices are pretty good. They always have some special going on too! I think you can build-your-own burger on Mondays and $ 0.25 wings on Wednesdays. The service is sooo good too. I was having car troubles so I had to leave my truck there for a bit and they were totally cool with me leaving it there. So yea, if you’re in the area, definitely stop by.

Crap, did I seriously not write a review of this place yet? So check this place out, sports bar hidden for only the locals to know about but it will never be because the power of the internet! Cheap beers because its a sports bar with some crazy cheap food on certain days. All you can eat tacos, make your own burger, but The Most Important day is 25 cents Wing Wednesday! Think about it, 20 wings for 5 bucks! If you ain’t sold on that, then… uhhh don’t eat the wings?! If you are actually watching a sporting event at honda stadium or angels stadium, park here at the bar, grab some drinks and food while you wait for the FREE shuttle to the event! That’s right! Free ride there and back. That parking fee you pay to the wand waving mexicans could be saved on the food and drinks you eat at Throwbacks Sports Bar.

— Locale Destination — It’s located at a quite odd location — right off the 5 freeway… It’s on E Katella Ave and S Claudina way in Anaheim. Music selection is quite awful. Country music!!! This is CA, not T, OK? Big bar and many big TVs. They also offer a bus service to Anaheim stadium with their bus. It’s cool. I went there for the female world cup final. — Gluttony Expedition — I’m not a beer fan thought I start interesting in it. It seems nothing special. But I’m not the person who goes to bars… — Conqueror’s Deduction — If you wanna watch games, it might be good. Not so crowded with a plenty of spaces.

After the OC Foodie Fest preview at Angels Stadium, a few of us Unilocalers were looking to extend our Monday afternoon, and ended up at this nearby sports bar. It’s in a non-descript building right off I-5, and it’s not a big place, but they maximize their space with everything you’d want. Big tables for groups of people, a internet jukebox that has nearly every song you’ll ever be in the mood to hear, and of course lots of TV’s and beers on tap. I like that they have Hoegaarden on draft, as some bars only serve it in bottles. Even though it wasn’t happy hour, the beer was just $ 4. Not bad. During happy hour it’s $ 2. That’s pretty sweet for a top notch beer like that. But what really made this a great experience was the bartender Jason. He was working alone, but despite us showing up with a dozen people unannounced, everyone got their drinks quickly. Plus, he quickly realized we were Unilocalers I think, because he hooked us up with a few complimentary snacks like buffalo wings, fries, and tater tots right out of the oven.(which by the way, the tater tots were great!) Needless to say, when someone brings me free food, they get a pretty big tip and a good review. But even without the freebies, this is a solid choice for a place to have a beer and watch the game with friends. They also have an insane happy hour hour menu. Burgers for $ 1! All you can eat tacos for $ 5.99?! I’ll definitely be back to try those.

After a long weekend of drinking, what could be better than some Monday drinking? Am I right or am I right? I’m pretty sure I’m right. Throwbacks is a pretty perfect sports bar in a pretty perfect location with pretty perfect daily happy hour deals. For 20 people bombarding this place on a Monday afternoon, the bartender Jason took stellar care of us. So, for drinks happy hour knocks off $.50, which doesn’t sound like much, until you realize most drafts are only about $ 3-$ 5 a pint. But they have daily deals that don’t start until 5pm for food — like $ 1DIY burgers on Monday, $ 5.99ACYE tacos on Tuesday, $.25 wings and more. It’s pretty damn kickass. Of course, they’ve got all of your other sportsbarsy things like loads of televisions, a scmancy digital jukebox and loads of beers on tap. And, of course, it’s super close to Angels Stadium, so it’s a perfect pre/post/no tickets to the game spot. Hell, they even have a bus that will shuttle you back and forth from the game. My kind of sports bar.

They never knew what hit them. After yesterday’s OC Foodie Fest preview at Angels’ Stadium, a group of us decided to head to Throwbacks to take advantage of the great Monday Happy Hour. It didn’t start until 3pm, but we coaxed Jason into starting us early since we were the only ones in the bar(and we were less than a half hour shy of the«real» start time). He not only obliged us, he even brought out yummy appetizers(I could NOT stop eating the tater tots!), and got the jukebox started with a few credits. And my heart skipped a beat when I saw they had Pear Cider on tap(that’s it, 5 stars). I felt like royalty! I loved the atmosphere of this open, casual place. It was a treat to have a place like this all to ourselves for most of the time we were there, but I can imagine coming back before or after a game.

Did a impromptu UYE after the Elite OC Foodie event here. Awesomeness: –Jason the bartender provided free appetizers when we were disappointed that the happy hour deal wasn’t available. –Provided yummy drinks(pear cider on tap FTW) –The jukebox had a great collection of songs. –Laid back atmosphere… Verdict: –Now that I’m a local, I will definitely come back… how come it took me so long to try it? Hmmm…

Years ago, two things made me happy. Darts & Beer. In that order too. So, I was tickled pink when I walked into Throwbacks tonight to wait for their free shuttle to Angels’ stadium for their game against the Yankees. Maybe I should say I was tickled red because Throwbacks is definitely an Angels’ bar. It was a sea of red everywhere you looked both indoor and out. Tons of parking and the staff is totally friendly. Definitely will go back as this is one of the few places I found steel tipped darts. It also happens to be close to one of the companies I’m contracted to work for. Bar food is also served here so it’s a one stop destination to get your«drink» on.

Nice little bar off the 5 freeway. Plenty of parking space. Service was pretty good, although there were only two servers in the whole place. Place got packed, thus, come early before the game. I must say they have killer buffalo wings. Really good. Even better, when you come on Weds. during happy hour, when they’re only a quarter each. talk about a bargain. They have pool tables and a foozeball in the back. Just an awesome place and can’t wait to come back!
