I attended this school last year. Shortly after having completed my training I was able to secure employment in LA. The owner Laura is amazing and such a sweetheart. It’s not like other places where when your done with the course they kick you out the door. The owner really takes an interest in every student and makes a life long partnership with you and your future success!

There’s a reason why Southern California Bartending School is rated #1! I recently decided to go to bartending school and did research on different schools in the LA/​OC area. I read all the reviews on SCBS and decided to enroll. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made! Laura is not only a pro, but she wants her students to succeed. She not only has many years of bartending experience, she has teaching experience as well, so you get a perfect balance. It’s not just a course taught by just an experienced bartender; Laura takes pride in making sure you leave a certified bartender. My favorite part was the speed and accuracy drills. I would want to keep going even after we were done :) The atmosphere was very casual and relaxing. We got to mix and pour drinks while music played. I like that the classes are small. There was just myself and another girl in my class and the both of us ended up getting hired for bartending jobs after! It was a fun experience and I highly recommend Southern California Bartending School to anyone thinking of taking up bartending! Laura and I still keep in touch and she is a great mentor.

Best bartending school ever. I’m so grateful to Laura (instructor/​owner) for the lead she sent me on the current bartending gig I landed. It was perfect for me and I’m making more than I could have ever imagined. I wasn’t sure how far I would take my new found knowledge in the industry once I received my certificate but it was the best investment I have ever made and wished I did this a long time ago. SCBS is professional and provides well organized training needed if you’re looking to get into this work and the best part is Laura is dedicated in providing updates on job placements. this school deserves 6 stars if there was an option to give it one! Laura is the best Mentor as she will make you feel @ease through the course, she is very patient, calm, and genuine. Not only will she give you hints and tips but she will show you behind the scenes and gray areas in the industry. Before I enrolled in bartending school I was broke w/​little money and I had an option to pick between ABC bartending school or SCSB and I am glad I made the right decision, It was worth it and memorable!
I had zero knowledge about bartending but right after graduating I felt super confident to start working behind the bar .
It won’t feel like a class because trust me she’ll make pouring drinks fun

This school was perfect. I researched a lot before deciding and am so glad I attended here. I was planning to get certified and move to Las Vegas and wanted to be sure I got the very best bar education. The classes are small, laid back and in-​depth. We practiced a ton behind the bars. You can tell they care a lot about making sure we know everything we need to.
Plan to devote at least one hour a day to studying while in the program. I passed on my first try but another student didn’t and had to re-​schedule her test-​out. They let you come back and try again after studying a little more.
Overall– worth every penny!

Great course! Very down-​to-​earth, realistic, and in-​depth. I had bartended before, but the school and Laura opened my eyes up to so much more in regards to the field. Laura is VERY knowledgeable in her trade and the hands on experience left me feeling eager and way more confident then when I started. The manual they offered at the school was way worth it! There’s so much handy information in there I still use today.
After the course ended, I was stoked when Laura let me know about an upcoming bartending gig with their staffing company, but I was moving back to Seattle and couldn’t make it. I ended up getting a steady bartending job at a popular Seattle bar and it’s in large part because of this school. I would recommend this to anybody looking at getting in to bartending!

First off, I want to thank Laura and Jamie for being awesome and allowing me to have an educational and fun experience. I can truly say that your course has given me the extra push and confidence that I’ve needed to go out and live my dream… bartend! I recently got hired at a restaurant in the Fairplex grounds in Pomona and using everything I know from this class has really let people around me know that I am built for bartending. I’ve continued to study this craft and will never forget my times here at Southern California Bartending school.

I was searching for bartending school for a few weeks, I contacted a few schools one of the school never called me back and all of the other training course were expensive for me. I contacted Southern California Bartending School spoke with the owner she gave me a ton of info and her school was affordable. I started the training course shortly after and i was impressed how much she taught us in a short amount of time (serving, making drinks, making sure our stations are clean, etc) class had a good vibe. I would refer anyone to Southern California Bartending School.

I decided to take the 6 hour sunday class due to my schedule. 6 hours seems long but once you get started with the class, time goes by way too fast. Laura is a great bartender/​teacher. She keeps it simple and fun. We got to be hands on and had lots of time to practice making drinks. The atmosphere is laid back and you get to meet some awesome people. Another cool thing is that you can look for jobs on the SCBS website like for restaurants or catering businesses. And after finishing the class you can always go back if you need more practice. I highly recommend Southern California Bartending School.

Very glad I learned through SoCal Bartending. Laura was a pro with tons of experience, always challenging us to work smarter and harder; to recall our ingredients and call us out whenever we weren’t on point.

The hands on schooling was great, but just as nice is the job pages listed for SoCal Bartending graduates! There’s always something coming up for those needing a few extra bucks at a weekend gig.

Super glad I chose this school. I enrolled late June when I was home from school for Summer break. I figured it would be a great job while I finish college. Everyone always talks about how much bartenders make.
In class everything is covered in detail and the small class sizes make it less intimidating. Our class was full with only 8 students which allowed for a more hands-​on experience. We had a lot of interaction in the form of role-​playing and speed drills. The instructor made sure we were all getting enough practice and kept a close eye on us the entire program so we didn’t get behind. It was relatively easy but you do need to study at for an hour or so a night and learn how to effectively interact with your customers. The role-​playing drills really helped me get a feel for the social aspect of being a bartender. Overall a really good experience, the course was professional and thorough.

This is a great course to get information in the bartending world! Laura not only teaches you how to make drinks, but the ins and outs of the bartending industry. You will leave her course with the confidence you need. Worth every penny!

I finished classes here last month and had a great experience. The classes are thorough– you learn everything. not just how to make the popular drink recipes. The instructor is funny and laid back. They start you out slow so you don’t get too overwhelmed. There’s also a teaching assistant who is there once a week to run hands-​on drills. There are 4 bars in the classroom. It’s set up exactly like a real bar– garnishes, bottles, ice, everything.
I got my first gig through their staffing company LG Event Services and made back over half of what the class cost me. I also get to put that on my resume which is rad! I feel confident and prepared to get behind a real bar with all the training and experience I got here.

Love Love Love Laura and my class mates during my time at Southern California Bartending School. I already have work for several Bars thru-​out Orange county from Corporate to small family owed I have been very lucky and more so picky. With coming to this school it help boost my confidence and skills I needed to become an awesome kick ass Bartender. Just working away to reach my next set of goals. I bought this on groupon to start a new career to take care of my family and I have to say it’s the one school I’ve ever been to that I didn’t want to end. At first when I Unilocaled the reviews I thought they were fake. Nope its all true. Laura is wonderful. Great teacher, dog rescuer, understanding, and best of all great motivater. You really have to study to pass this class. I now know drinks I’ve never heard of and can make them in 30 seconds or less with her hands on training. Thank you so much Laura. Money well spent! Great class, I took this class knowing nothing about bartending and after I graduated I felt ready. and thanks to the teachings of Laura the owner/​instructor of the class, I now work in a well established hotel as a bartender keeping up with the other bartenders. This class has everything you need to get in the Industry and kick ass. Doesn’t get any better than this seriously. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have to say that the So Cal Bar School is the best there is!
Owner, Bartender, Instructor, and Puppy-​Saver (she adopt and fosters dogs from kill shelters) Laura is so wonderful! She is thorough and gives you real-​life examples. This ain’t no «Everything You Need To Know Is In The Manual» type deal; this is hands on, in-​depth, turn-​down the light & turn up the music prep!
I really enjoyed my time there, but what I enjoyed the most is the awesome amount of support I received from Laura after I graduated. If you are enthusiastic and willing to work, Laura will be right behind you helping you find gigs and equipping you with the tools to succeed. Laura helped me find several private gigs, but she also helped me land my very first full time job! I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and her encouragement and dedication to her craft and her students.
If you really want to be a bartender, this is a worthy investment! I made my tuition back after 2 – 3 gigs and I have a blast every time I do it. I m so happy I did this, and you will be too!

I attended the school back in February but haven’t been able to review until now!
Laura was my instructor and she is RAD! A seasoned veteran of the bartending world and super sweet and funny. Class time goes by in the blink of an eye because you have so much fun, but at the same time are learning so much. Their doors are always open too after you graduate if you want to keep practicing.
I would recommend them in a heartbeat, and the tuition is definitely worth it. I made that money back in a couple of gigs (;
