Meet Peter Dills Event @ The Catch

What a great event! I got to meet Peter Dills and spoke briefly to my group about his show. I didn’t know his father was famous as well.
Each guest was given two drink tickets and there was quite a bit of appetizers being handed out. Fortunate for my friends and I, the waiters were coming from the back and give us an assortment of food. I was a bit disappointed I was unable to try all the hor d’oeuvres since some dishes were more popular than others. Peter had a mini trivia game going however the sound system wasn’t all the best.
I got to see quite a bit of Unilocalers here and got to catch up with them. Always good to see familiar faces! Parking was a breeze since we parked downstairs and The Catch validated our parking. I’ll be back to the Catch one day to just try out the entrees. The place looks awesome.

Event with another person named Peter? You know I would be there!
I’m thankful to finally made it to the Catch. I’ve been going to Angel home games the last five years and pretty much it was when I noticed this place. Well, excuses here and there limited me to come here and check the place out. Big area bar, open kitchen concept, and beers from their parent company Taps Fish House, what’s not to like?
They often will do a special with the same day of the game. Such as the one happening tomorrow. Game 1 of ALDS for $ 30, you can have an all you can eat meal including their prime rib sandwich or their burgers, it’s such a great deal if you can’t score a ticket into the game.
Or if you can’t watch the game and are on the road, the next best thing is to listen to Peter on AM830. Angel Radio.
As for the beer here at the event, I was able to try the Cream Ale. Tasted somewhat like a cream soda, sweet and dessert like. Reminds me of root beer. I believe this beer can also be found at Taps.
Trays of appetizers were passed around. I was in a middle area with MIchael and his wife from the Globe as well as Ed and Kathi. It was like a free for all, so it was a little tough at first to get anything to eat. But I didn’t fret and I was finally able to get one of each item (Pesto pizza, skewers, crustini) and I can attest the crab balls were the best thing all night (Or until 5pm) here. Thanks Chef Cory and crew!
I didn’t get a chance to meet Patty here, but I did talk a bit to Peter on my way out as he thank us for coming. He did mention it’s possible to have another event like this again. It’s nice, to be able to mingle and relax here with some fellow foodbloggers, event planners, fellow Unilocalers, and restaurant owners here.
Parking at the garage can be validated from the hostess. (Oh yeah, the entrance can be deceiving, I believe it was off Katella) before you would turn right if you were going to valet it.

I was invited to «Meet Peter Dills» on Sunday, along with 100’s of other fans. Even though it wasn’t an official « Unilocal» event, there were tons of Unilocalers who I’ve been following, and finally got to meet in person.
We were allowed to bring a +1, and we arrived 15 minutes early. They were not ready yet, so we waited at the bar until the back room was open. The room was set up with stand up tables, and along the wall were tables which looked like was for the food.
The event was heavy on the appetizers, but unfortunately the room was too crowded and the food never got to be set down. The minute a Catch employee came out with a platter, the hoard of guests swooped down to grab the few finger foods that was on the platter. Truly chaotic!
Peter tried to host a trivia game but the sound system was so poor, and the room was so loud, we didn’t even bother.
We were given 2 vouchers for free drinks (ie: wine, select beers, soft drink) which was quite generous, but overall too chaotic for us. We ended up leaving at 4:15 (the event was 3:00 — 5:00) to catch a Ducks hockey game.
I normally would consider this a 3 star event, but, since it was free, I’ll give it a generous 4 star. The organiztion of dispersing the food could have been much better. The tables on the side were a complete waste. If the staff had put out a ton of food at the same time, there would have been no hoarding.

I had a Great time. It was a pleasure to meet Peter Dills in person. His dad was Elmer from the ABC show. The event was in our own private room. As we entered the Restaurant we where given 2 beverage tickets, with your choice of Drinks. I had glasses of Vino.
The appetizers that where served to us where also very Delicious, throughout the 2 hours event.
Too the staff that waited on us during these 2 hours and served us the Wonderful and Delicious appetizers, Thank You very much. You all where great.

It was a pleasure to meet Peter Dills! He doesn’t know me, so he didn’t have too much to say. He knew quite a few attendees & he was very warm and open with them.
I remember watching his dad, Elmer, on ABC. Nice to see his son following the same food passion!
I’ve never been to an event like this so I didn’t have any real expectations… and it wasn’t a Unilocal Event. I was certainly glad I got the chance to attend!
The event was good, in my opinion. We were all given 2 beverage tickets when we walked in. At first, the hor d’oeuvres didn’t quite make it to the back tables, let alone the patio! There were very hungry people near the front & they seemed to have choice pickings from the trays as the servers were trying to walk around and make sure everyone got to sample them. Near the end of the event, some trays did finally make it our way & outside. It wasn’t an eating event, so it turned out okay in that respect. What we sampled was enjoyed, I especially liked the crab balls, pizza, and the fruit.
Peter asked a few trivia questions and gave out gift cards to the correct responders.
For me, the highlight of the event was actually meeting other Unilocalers & their +1! I met Dino D (minus his tall hot blonde?!), Rodney S, Michelle R, Stephen, and Selene.
For Peter, I would call the event a success! He got to meet & greet quite a few people! As for The Catch, they got us all to walk through their restaurant before arriving at the private room where the event was held. It’s a «catchy» name being so close to Angels Stadium!
On our way out, we got our parking ticket validated. Hopped in the car and inserted the ticket and voila!, our parking was FREE! Very nice!

I am a fan of The Catch. And I was lucky enough to catch Peter Dills’ food adventure here at The Catch.
I regularly watch «Dining with Dills» TV show (in) Southern California on Charter ‘s channel 188 Saturdays and Sundays at 7pm. And will listen to his daily reviews on the PBS OC Channel after today as he is a fun, personable guy.

Apps, libations & mingling
I had the privilege to attend the Meet Peter Dills Event at The Catch Restaurant in Anaheim. Peter is a Southern California food critic with shows on TV & AM 830. He was friendly & cordial, being the master of ceremonies as we dined on passed appetizers. Items included flatbread, chicken skewers, dragon rolls & my favorite, the crab cakes.
Throughout the event, drawings were held for various gift cards & T-​shirts.
The winner of a $ 25 The Catch gift card was kind enough to give me her prize, as she said she wouldn’t be coming back. Hey, it pays to be friendly ;p
2 drink tickets were given to each attendee, with beer, wine, lemonade & soft drinks to quench the thirst.
Great meeting fellow foodies, familiar & unfamiliar.
Remember Doug the Dog from «Up», where he’d talk & then go «squirrel!!»? Well, that was me, except I’d blurt out «food!!!» I can spot food from a mile away. It was pretty funny seeing people swoop in like vultures & surround the staff with the appetizer trays. I was more of a discreet vulture, taking my portion while no one was looking.
Football fans got to see the end of the 49ers/​Eagles game. It was a close one, with San Francisco picking up the W.
Grattitude to Peter, Patty & the friendly staff at The Catch for having us for a entertaining gathering, having light bites, drinks & with some winning (or getting in my case) wonderful prizes. I’ve never been to The Catch before, & now equipped with a $ 25 gift card, you know I’ll be back to enjoy an entrée at this local eatery.
