My parents in-​law were very kind to recommend and pay for this gardening service when my husband broke his hip and was unable to move much back in nov/​dec. At first they were great! It was so nice not to have to worry about our yard. So when he healed and went back to work, we kept them. But when we starting paying for the bill ourselves, their attitude and workmanship started to change too. They kept coming later and later in the day till finally the didn’t show up till 6−7pm (when the original time we agreed on was ⁶⁄₇ am). And then they kept breaking pieces of our plants in the planter or cutting off flowers before they were spent (My labor intensive Tulips!!). Not only that, but I had to start closing the windows in our home because they would use the leaf blower to blow dirt and dust through our windows (and the worst part was they just laughed when they saw I was angry at this.) Today they crushed their last plant at my home (a beautiful flowering snapdragon). I called up the owner and asked him why I pay for his services when every time they come they ruin another plant of mine. His answer was total indifference, «I don’t know». Well, Mr. Hernandez, I don’t know either, but I’m certainly not paying for it anymore.
And just for kicks, I texted him a picture of all the plants his service crushed today.
