We recently purchased a boat through Russ Meixner of West Yachts in Anacortes, WA and had an exceptionally positive experience. Over a time period of about 8 months, he took us through just about every kind of boat that met our basic description. This is a man who really knows boats. When we found the boat we wanted he helped us negotiate a good price. He recommended a surveyor and followed through with the seller to see that all required repairs were made before closing. He introduced us to competent and friendly banker and an excellent local insurance agent. He personally took us out in the boat and patiently showed us how to operate and handle it. We are now the proud owners of a 2004 Nordic Tug 37 and could not be happier!

Update: we did end up buying a nice yacht — obviously not from these prigs. When we had come into their office, the guy asked, «have you seen any boats you liked?». When we replied we had, he asked in a rather snotty tone, «Why didn’t you buy it?». I get the implication; he had us pegged for ‘looky-​loos’ who were just going to waste his time.
Well guess what, squarenuts; we did get a boat, and you didn’t get a commission. You won’t miss it, obviously, but with your attitude, time — and karma — will catch up with you, so good luck… you’ll need it.
