Love this place. We come to the area each year for a family reunion and always when we are winding down, around 7:30pm, we want to run to Mad Hatter… we generally call them and they stay open for all 20 of us! Awesome place.

What a cute ice-cream shop! From the moment you pull up, there is ice-cream décor everywhere! They had a really cute sign that read«I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice cream» which made me feel nostalgic! I had a waffle cone with birthday cake and chocolate chip cookie dough. My favorite was the birthday cake flavor! It tasted so much like birthday cake and had colorful sprinkles throughout! The girl working was very kind and answered my questions. It seemed that she was a teenager working a summer job. The icecream was a bit more expensive than I was expecting for a small town but worth it. I wish they had seating inside as it was getting cold that evening. If we make the trip to anacortes again we will definitely stop at Mad Hatter Icecream.

We decided, a bit late in the day, to grab some ice cream yummy goodness to end a very long day of travel. We happened upon Mad Hatter as they were about to close, yet they happily greeted our party of eight with enthusiasm. They have a great selection of flavors, though I tend to shy away from the more eccentric offerings. I went with their self named Mad Hatter, a combination of fudge swirl and caramel swirl in the same scoop. Fantastic good stuff in that cup! Perhaps it is well known to the local Anacortes crowd, but if you happen to find yourself in the area and are hurting for some great hand-scooped ice cream to cap your day, I cannot recommend them enough.

It’s good with lots of variety. Somewhat pricey and not the biggest scoops. Softserve and almost any flavouring with added flavoring

I understand that Anacortes is a small town(as a matter of fact my family actually used to live here when we were really young), but I have little tolerance for bad service. I’ve looked at the other reviews for this business, and they seemed generally pleased with their service, which makes me wonder if something other than the size of my party was the source of our mistreatment(there were only eight of my family and friends, but the business is so small that our server kept complaining about the size of «the line»). Very few times do I even consider this, but I am aware that there is very little racial diversity in Anacortes. If you are of Caucasian descent, come on over, the ice cream is good! If you are Asian-American, go somewhere else. Businesses that mistreat customers do not deserve my business. #madhattersicecream #ThanksNoThanks

Cute converted garage into a ice cream shop across from the Anacortes Farmers Market. Décor and layout are great. But, the ice cream was just average on our stop. I had cappuccino chip and my mate had wild blackberry. Neither one of us thought they were very flavorful, and the prices are pretty high for the quality. Parking is not usually a problem, and they have several seating options. On a hot day, this is probably a popular spot to be.

The people, the location, the ice cram, and the memory(eating with my kids at tables made for families in the backyard is awesome), is the definition of a 5 star place. We will be back!

I promise you, I’m not overly generous in my five star ratings. This place is delightful. Soft serve options galore, although I tend to stick with the classic chocolate vanilla swirl, on a cone(obviously). I believe they also serve Lopez Island Creamery ice cream, which is the best in the PNW. Owners are kind and their dog, Red, while HUGE, is the sweetest thing you’ll ever meet! Sit out on the steps and eat up your ice cream before it melts in the sun.

Charming little ice cream shop a few blocks off the main drag in Old Town Anacortes. We skipped the expensive dessert menu at our restaurant and came here instead — what a find. Super nice owners and the friendliest pit bull ever! Soft serve and traditional(hard) styles — our kids loved it.

Even though I miss the Dessert Show/Chocolate Factory I enthusiastically welcome this little ice cream shop to Anacortes! PROS: Plenty of parking, outdoor seating and a short walk from the marina. Ice cream is from a local supplier, Lopez Island Creamery I believe. Ice cream is delicious and they offer scoops, sundaes, splits etc. Staff are friendly and offer samples and suggestions. Better yet, they don’t have a problem selling kid scoops to adults which some establishments frown upon. CONS: No seating inside so winter treats would have to be gobbled up in your car or at home. Not much room inside for more than 6 people at a time so I can imagine a little impatience at peak hours.

Little hidden gem near the railway and maritime museums. Super tiny and cute! They have 26 soft serve flavors, 16 traditional«hard ice cream» flavors, and sorbets to boot. A little pricey but worth it on a «hot» WA summer day :)
