I had a horrendous experience recently when I attempted to purchase fabric. I have a nose piercing and I had muted purple hair at the time. The owner all but turned me away after taking one very long, judgemental look at me. I absolutely will not return.

I stopped in at Fabrics Plus on an impromptu trip to Anacortes this week, and I must say I was impressed. I had expected your typical small«quilt shop» — with lots of cottons and batiks but not much else. But Fabrics Plus is much more than just a quilt shop; they are a full service, one-stop shop that could easily hold their own against any large chain fabric store. They not only have an amazing selection of quilting cottons(incuding some of the best theme fabrics I’ve ever seen — you name it, they probably have it), but their selection of other fabrics was impressive as well. For example, they had some of the most gorgeous flannels I’ve ever seen in one place — and not just baby flannels. In the back of the store are knits, upholstery, fleece, outdoor fabrics, furs, and more. And along the walls are every possible notion you could ever want; plus interfacing and all of the tools necessary to get your projects done. Perhaps most appealing to me, as a quilter, is their wide selection of precuts, including jellyrolls, layer cakes, and charm packs — plus some«grab and go» quilt kits. The service was also very friendly, and the prices were average(much lower than I would have expected). I will definitely make this place one of my regular stops when I’m visiting the fine city of Anacortes!

So I’m visiting from out of town and I stopped in this store with my 5 month old son and my mom. We were the only ones in there along with the 3 employees. My son started to get fussy. My mom came walking towards me and quickly said lets go. When I asked her what happened she said one of the employees made a comment to another about how they should shoot a rubber band at my son. Needless to say we walked out empty handed. What kind of sick person would even think to make a comment like that. They had a great selection and I actually found a lot of great stuff I was interested in buying but I will never spend a single penny at this place after hearing that. Horrible customer service!!! I wish I could leave zero stars.

The best thing about small quilting shops is they usually have a good range of interesting fabrics. I love this place for that. I also love it that they manage to cram in every other sewing notion I might need. Always friendly and helpful.
