Pet friendly.
Keys took 10 times to read in door on average. Wi fi down 80% of stay. We were there two nights and it only worked for awhile one evening. Bedding a bit rough & thin & black mold & bugs in the bathroom (just some– not a fearful amount). Bugs to be expected in the summer in this area with all the bountiful nature, but a few too many for cleanliness.
Economical esp with the reasonable pet deposit. Family friendly. Staff is helpful and kind. Might want to bring you own towels and an extra sheet & blanket to offset the thin bed & bath stuff they’ve got.
For service and pet accommodation, four stars. For actual beds and rooms, and access to amenities, two. Cleanliness and comfort, two. For location, five… I’ll just give them 3 and call it a day. Probably fine if you’re on the road or young just looking for a place to crash. Safe area.

Dirty hotel room with bugs in the bath tub. Towels had hair on them also. Worst part, bedbug blood spots on the box spring cover-​which was ripped potentially letting any trapped bugs out. As a person allergic to bedbug bite, I could not stay. Asked for new room or refund and it was denied. Never again!!!

THEY TAKE PETS!
The lady was super-​sweet, and was as nice to our well-​behaved, clean dog. We were so grateful and relieved to find a place that was fine, clean if oldish, but where we could stay with our favorite non-​human.

Sadly, there are very few accommodation options in Amherst. Which is why I ended up in a motel-​like set up. Pros: .5 m from center of Amherst, clean room. Cons: attracts noisy hard drinking young adults packed into rooms sized for much smaller groups, threadbare linens, furnishings reminiscent of a second hand shop, thin walls, slow draining plumbing. And all this for $ 130/​night. Next time I will look hard for a B&B.

A classic New England motel that is quite quaint for what it is. It’s clean, quiet, safe and cheap! You really can’t go wrong. There is coffee and juice in the main office in the mornings and each room has a microwave and a refrigerator! If you enjoy squishy beds I wouldn’t reccomend this place, however. The matresses are firm and there is no hairdryer, so make sure to bring your own.

A world class resort, this is not. What it is is a cheap and comfortable place in a good location. After a full day of kayaking and mountain biking all we needed was a hot shower and a comfortable bed. The University Lodge provided us with both. We were greeted by an exceptionally friendly lady at the front desk whose name I wish I rememered. I might be a little bit biased because I was exhausted at the time, but the beds seemed like the most comfortable places in the world. The location was also pretty good. It’s located within walking distance of the downtown which has several bars and places to eat.
We did get a pretty big laugh when my brother moved the coffee maker. The layer of brown underneath made it clear that the cleaning lady never bothered to move it while cleaning up. The only other drawback was the hideously old décor, but that kind of stuff doesn’t get noticed when you’re asleep.
All in all I’d give it a 2 star cleanliness rating, but a 5 star comfort rating. For a decent price it was exactly what we were looking for in a place to spend the night before moving on to another busy day.

The LODGE as its known by its faithful, is a mecca of central location to all that is umass. planted at the south end of the main strip of amherst you are in easy walking distance to all the center has to offer. i found this spectacular for thursday/​fri/​sat night festivites.
about the lodge. its no frills and def nothing to write home about. it’s a clean, affordable place to stay. and it serves its purpose. the star here is the location. and you know what they say location, location, location.
