Did a fun comedy show here last night. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but U-Pub is a casual spot that serves affordable bar food and beer/wine. It’s somewhere to gather with friends, relax, grab a bite to eat and throw back a few drinks. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and unpretentious. I was starving after the ride from Boston and got a turkey club, healthy diet be damned. The sandwich’s portions were very generous given the price and I had to pawn some off on a friend. It was a standard turkey club, allegedly on sourdough(which I questioned… seemed like typical white bread to me), with lettuce, tomato, turkey, bacon, and mayo. Though the turkey was somewhat dry, the sandwich filled me up as I desired. No better way to wash it down than with some cheap PBR. Overall, U-Pub is a satisfactory spot for inexpensive food and alcohol when you need it. I recommend the monthly comedy showcase here, which features comics from all over New England. The crowd was great and I had a fantastic time performing. Drawbacks: the ambiance could be improved with dimmer lighting and hard liquor… but hey, this is a campus pub, not a dive bar in Somerville. What you see is what you get.

I liked the name«The Grad Lounge» better. A bar on the UMass campus is a great idea, they need to get alcohol at the Mullins Center and the Grad Lounge is a great example of how we can responsibly serve the needs of patrons, even at a crazy party school.

Stopped in for a quick beer in between the lacrosse and basketball games yesterday. Now known as the U-Pub(formerly Grad Lounge). Nothing special, but do have a few beers on tap, or you can order a glass of wine. Do have pub food as well: salads, burgers, fries, nachos, sandwiches, etc… They also have a pool table, and a couple of TV’s…More extensive selections are available off campus, but if you are on campus, or staying the night at the Campus Center Hotel, it’s a pretty inexpensive spot to head to. Across from the Blue Wall!

A surprisingly decent beer selection at surprisingly decent prices, considering that it’s in the middle of the campus center. It’s nothing special, to be sure, but a nice place to stop in for a pint when on campus.

I love you Grad Lounge. On campus, right across from the blue wall, its great to be able to celebrate finishing a test or paper with a beer on campus. The prices are shockingly low(given they are on campus) and has a pretty good draft selection(usually 2 cheep beers, a sam adams, guinness and a craft brew) and a large botte list. I love the grad lounge, and as embarrassing as this is, its one of my favorite places to buy a beer in the area
