Hampshire Community Yellow Bike Program

Great concept. Really, really great concept. Unfortunately, the Yellow Bike Program has more than a few issues.
The biggest problem is all of the bikes are in really poor shape. They’re crafted out of old parts, which is really nifty, but they could use some serious love and attention. I have yet to find one that is in good shape. The bikes are maintained by the Yellow Bike program, which is in a basement under one of the public spaces. I have only seen it open once.
Such is the trouble with student-​run initiatives. It is hard to maintain interest and keep a good program like this alive. If you’re going to Hampshire College, bring your own bike. Just make sure that your bike isn’t yellow. Or walk — the campus isn’t that big, anyway.

Too Cool! Just find the bright yellow bike, bike to class, then leave it in the pathway for the next person.
