Hair Mechanix is a welcome find on Ames’ west side. Tucked in the strip mall anchored by HyVee, Hair Mechanix is a full service, professional salon with a hip upscale flair. Both women and men would feel comfortable here.
Guests are treated to a bottled water, soft drink, beer or wine while they wait. I’m really pleased with the wash and cut I received. If your cut was like mine, and you’re a guy, you’ll get out of there for $ 17 plus tip.
I gave both Marc Stephens and Regis several tries with mixed results. It’s nice to find a local establishment near my house doing upscale work at a great price.
