Best Western University Park Inn & Suites

Great place, little pricey, but gave a great military discount. Good coffee. Very nice hotel modern and clean. Front desk area gets 5 stars for middle no where Iowa. Indoor pool with hot tub. Beds are comfy. Flat screen TVs pretty standard now a days … No complains

I’m trying not to compare this place to the 3.5 stars we would usually stay in, but when you see a flat screen, fridge and Keurig machine in the room, that becomes difficult!
Cons (all pretty minor in the grand scheme of things, hence maintaining a 4 to 4.5 star rating!):
— I don’t like the mirror/​sink being separate to the bath room, cause then you can’t get ready for the day without waking your travelling companion (s)
— No tea/​hot chocolate pots for the Keurig, I managed to have an in-​room cuppa in the trashy Holiday Inn express we stayed in, in IL a few days ago. Not all of us drink coffee — kapeesh?
— walls are paper thin, you can hear what everyone else is doing/​saying.
— You can afford fridges and Keurigs in the room but the towels are still the size of postage stamps? Some of us are somewhat rotund and like more coverage than a bikini!
— The shower needed cranked up to cosmic heat to get anywhere beyond luke warm.
–Pillows and mattress are super soft, which may be a pro for some folks.
— HUGE unwelcome spider on the wall when we got here, but Can I really blame that in BW?
Pros:
— Huge room
— Clean
–Free and plentiful parking
— Right next door to a gas station for supplies!
— AC unit was quiet and kept the room surprisingly cool overnight (though partly attributed to the Iowan weather i’m sure?)
— Free wifi
— Free breakfast (which we got up too late to avail of but free food is good, right?)
— In-​room fridge and Keurig machine
— Clean remote is a fantastic idea, hubby was very impressed!
— We prepaid our room (with credit card points + some cash) and woke up to a $ 100 bill for the room. Eh no, that’s not how this works! Apparently the bill was meant for the points company so our heart attack was short-​lived and the service was great!
A surprisingly good place to stay :)
