A year ago the food here was pretty good. Not anymore. The lettuce in the salads was a few days older than a restaurant should serve customers and the food in general really seems to have dropped in quality to a degree I don’t think I would come back. If this was in a town w more competition they would be dead in a week. Step it up guys.

The homemade ranch dressing is awesome. We always get salads, and the dinner side salads are huge. I actually buy the dressing by the pint or quart to bring home. The pizzas are good, and service is good. One of the better choices in this area.

Have eaten here twice and think the service is great and the food is pretty darn good for a small town.

With the small town of Amery, the restaurant choices are slim, but I like Village Pizzeria. I live in Los Angeles, so when I come home to visit family, sometimes they either order a pizza, or we go eat at the restaurant. The pizzas are very rich, one slice and I get pretty full, but they have good flavor. The service is always great, which can be refreshing when coming from a large city where people tend not to care about giving decent service.

I recently found myself in Amery during a week-long trip. I had met up with two other guys and we were doing our best to stay warm in the bitter cold. I needed to make a few copies of a large set of plans, and while we were waiting for these to be completed the site acq manager indicated that there was a local restaurant on the outskirts of town that had pretty decent food, to which the kid at the cash register agreed. The PM and I drove over to find the place with the SA returned the plans to city hall, but unfortunately the instructions the PM and I received weren’t the most accurate. It’s not easy to get lost in Amery, but it took the both of us about 15 minutes to get it all sorted out. It was about half past one when we arrived and the restaurant was sparsely populated. Several tables appeared to be wrapping up lunch but for the most part we had the place to ourselves. There had been a pizza and salad buffet set up but by the time we arrived it had been pretty well picked over and the selection was sparse. The waitress informed us that the buffet ended at 2 and if we were interested she could see if the cooks would bring out another pizza, but we decided to pass on that. I was more interested in getting some hot coffee to bring my core temperature up to something approaching normal. I was very happy when she brought out a carafe instead of just a mug, because I had a good idea that I was going to need it. I ended up ordering the spaghetti and meatballs entrée while the other two got sandwiches. There was discussion about how the PM always ends up getting a cheap bent fork when he eats out, which he hates and generally complains about. I received a bowl of cheddar vegetable soup with my spaghetti, and while it tasted OK the temperature was not quite warm enough. It wasn’t enough to complain about but it didn’t warm me up. The spaghetti arrived shortly after, and instead of meatballs there was just one huge meatball in the center of the dish. It was perfectly tasty but had to have clocked in at a pound. I couldn’t even come close to eating it all without the prospect of slipping into a food coma, and since I was on the road I didn’t quite have the option of a to-go box. Regardless, I enjoyed the meal, especially the homemade sauce on the spaghetti. The other two both seemed to like their sandwiches as well. The service was a bit over-zealous but I chalk that up to us being the only table. Overall I certainly liked the Village Pizzeria and I’d definitely make it a point to stop again, hopefully earlier in the day so as to partake in the pizza buffet.
