After reading reviews I thought I would give it a try. The Italian sub had thick wedges of tomato with not much meat. The pastrami was better but still there was a lot of sauerkraut and not much meat. At $ 18 for the two subs It’s way overpriced. I can get two great subs at Jersey Mikes or three subs with more meat at Subway.

This is the best italian style sandwich I have had since moving down here. The service was great too.

We were almost done with our road trip back from North Carolina and couldn’t wait another half hour to get into the city. Enter Angelo’s Subs. Angelo himself is incredibly lovely — he joked around with us and his smile at me was genuinely warm despite the fact that I had no make-up on and was clearly half-mad from hunger. I ordered the Turkey & Provolone sub with the works: lettuce, tomato, mayo, olive oil, salt, pepper, and oregano. While this filling was delicious, the real star of the show here was the bread. I love bread. This sub bread is perfect: Warm, brown, and crusty on the outside; soft, white, and supple in the middle. Even if nothing else about this place appeals, you should make the trek just for the bread. My dining partner had the Sailor: pastrami, knockwurst, swiss cheese, and brown mustard. It was juicy and positively bursting with flavor. The mustard was the perfect balance for the salty sausage. In conclusion, this little place in Amelia is legit. We’ll be using the King’s Highway route to NC from now on as an excuse to come back every time we’re in the area.

Yes. So much yes. In the middle of nowhere appears this delicious little place. Best sub in maybe ever. Adorable little men sitting around watching golf on TV. So happy to have found this today on my long drive. Awesome sub and service.

Undoubtedly the best Italian subs on Central Virginia. Great bread, rest meats, tasty cheese, and the friendliest staff this side of Palermo.

Stopped in based on Unilocal reviews while I made a long trip on 360⁄460. Had the Sicilian sandwich. Any sub with sliced mozzarella and balsamic is good in my book. Can’t speak for the other menu items yet. On 5 scale: Food 4, ambience 3, service 3.5(okay), price/value 3.5(avg 6 – 7 per sub but, chips are extra) Would come again: yes

Ordered 8 subs, very little meat, not accommodating on requests. Refusing to add mayo to a special caprese sandwich which it definitely needed as there was little to no chicken. Disappointing as I really wanted to like the place.

Really enjoyed the place. My husband, daughter and I stopped in and got subs and soup. My grilled chicken sub was really flavorful. The bread was crisp on the outside but really soft on the inside. The owner was really helpful and friendly. We will be coming back to this place again.

Best subs for miles around. It’s best to eat there or quickly thereafter because all the sandwiches are pretty juicy. Service is great.

Super fresh and authentic. Highly recommend. But, do yourself a favor and don’t add to the specials… eat them the way they list ‘em. Will be back next time I’m in the area!

Awesome Subs, and the guy who runs it is just as great. You know it is a good sub shop when you walk in not knowing what you want and the owner just makes something up for you. Bonus: It was awesome! will defiantly be going back anytime i’m in town.

Awesome subs and excellent customer service. I ordered a steak and cheese, honestly the best I ever had, the guy working here puts some sort of sauce on it that is perfect. Definitely didn’t expect this from this area.

The guy behind the counter at this place was a classic, stereotypical New Yorker, with the look of one of the Sopranos, and the Brooklyn accent. Certainly not what I expected to find in Amelia, VA. The subs at this place are great! I loved the Pizza sub. The one quirky thing I found was that the guy behind the counter would ask me a question, and then try to talk me out of my decision. For example, He asked me if I wanted the sub ‘for here, or to go’. I said ‘to go’. He said ‘no, you don’t want it to go, the sauce will get all over you, have it here’.(or something to that effect) He was right, but I had to question why he asked in the first place if he knew it wouldn’t travel well. :) He did the same thing after asking me if I needed napkins. Must be a New York thing. Not complaining, as it was rather messy to eat anyway… just an observation. That said, the quality of subs will keep me coming back to this place as I’m travelling home from Southern, VA.
