What a fun, interesting, educational find in Amarillo! I thought I had seen and done everything there was to do in Amarillo — then we found this little gem. It’s a small museum with a huge amount of interesting information and history. A tour guide walks you through and tells stories about the planes. Our guide — Sam — had a Texas sized passion for aviation and history and told us stories about everything from WWI planes to the helicopters being built next door. There is lots of information about Rick Husband, the local man who commanded the Columbia space shuttle. I’m not a huge fan of air and space stuff but I am a fan of local history and I love listening to people talk about their passions. I wish I could give more specifics about what we saw — but I have poor retention for these things. Regardless — this is a great little museum. I highly recommend a quick visit.
