This place has been here a while. Same waitress. She is great. Brought my brother-in-law here and he had the hamburger steak. Said it was really good. My husband had the 12 oz ribeye and enjoyed it. Tonight instead of steak or burger, I had the Southwest chicken salad. It was pretty good. But of course, can’t beat the burger and steak.

Ate here tonight. The meal was excellent. Despite what Unilocal says this place was open on a Sunday in November. We chatted with the proprietor, who said that they’d bought it in August(so it’s under new management). My husband and I both had the bacon wrapped Filrt, which was tender and perfectly cooked. It was delicious. The baked potato was good. The waitress said they also make their own salad dressing. Service was excellent.

My sister brought us here. THEBESTSTEAKEVER! There were four of us. Each steak was cooked to our order perfectly… including our steak sauce of choice. The peach cobbler & coffee were pretty tasty to boot. They even supplied us with our own fly swatter! The hostess, named Annie, sits just outside the front door and requires no more than a pat or scratch behind the ear. Tidbits from your dinner are gently accepted.

You may not get what you want but you will want what you get. You leave Lone Star needing a bath and a Burt Reynolds movie. They just don’t make places like this anymore. I can’t say one thing bad about this little shack. The waitresses are unapologetically competent… concise; to the point and ready to serve you the biggest chunk of beef known to man!

I’m not sure if they own a scale, or if they don’t care about unimportant details like measuring. But my 10-ounce filet was the size of my entire hand, and my friend’s 16-ounce ribeye took up half his plate. I’ve never had a better steak in my life. I guess this could be a warning if you prefer your steak with some kind of marinade, but my favorite method of cooking steak is simply meat + fire. Also, just when I thought it couldn’t get better, I ordered peach cobbler and nearly died from happiness.

Note: The actual address for this restaurant is 935 E. FM1151(Claude Hwy) Amarillo, TX79118. If you take Washington St. and go south past I-27 and past TX-335 and then go west on FM1151(Claude Hwy). It’ll be on your left. You’ll think you’re lost because all you see is fields and farms. Then, out of nowhere, there’s this little dive bar with a gravel parking lot. That’s Lone Star Bar and Grill. Be careful when you pull into the parking lot — they have a giant dog as a mascot. He’s perfectly friendly, but he’s just roaming the parking lot at night so drive slowly! Decided to try this place out after a coworker of mine raved about it. Brought a few of my favorite people and decided to make a night out of it. Right after walking in, I was very conscious that we were the only people of ethnicity in attendance. I thought it would be really uncomfortable, but the owners made us feel right at home. There’s a pool table in the middle of the place, a pinball machine, some arcade machines and a really nice jukebox. Seriously, it’s a BOSE jukebox with touchscreen. Fancy! So there’s a lot to do besides eating and drinking. It’s like a Dave and Busters in the boonies. I ordered the 18oz. ribeye($ 24), which at the time, was the smallest ribeye they offered. It was HUGE, but not very well seasoned. It seriously tasted like they just slapped it on the grill and that’s it. I would’ve loved to at least have some A1. My wife ordered the burger($ 10), which was much more seasoned and tasted pretty good. My friend ordered the bacon-wrapped filet, which was tiny, but at least it had a lot more flavor. The french fries are a very crispy and tasty side. After dinner, we decided to play some pool. Each game is 50 cents, but don’t worry if you don’t have quarters. They’ll be more than happy to add it to your tab. This is a great place to hang out with your friends, kick back, play some pool, listen to Johnny Cash on the jukebox and eat some hearty beef. Unfortunately, they’re only open for dinner on the weekdays and the food is a little too expensive and not as well flavored as it should be. Still, this is a charming dive. Pros: lots of fun, big portions, ice cold beer Cons: only open for dinner, pricey, my steak had no seasoning
