It was time for our six month check up after we had a new HVAC system installed this summer. Gary’s called to say up an appointment. Their service rep was on time and performed a complete maintenance review of our system. Professionalism all the go. They go that extra mile to ensure we are satisfied with everything. Added comment: We had a unit that was original equipment with the house. We had replaced the outside unit twice. The last time we had issues we contacted Gary’s. Being an engineer, I was probably in the service techs way most of the time. As he scoped the furnace, there were several cracks in the unit. We decided to go a while longer with the existing unit(35 years old). The condenser went out this summer. Instead of doing a band-aid fix, we decided it was time to replace the entire unit. Gary’s tech said that they could resolve the condenser issue but we knew it was time to replace it all. We went over all of our options with the tech. He gave us pricing for the condenser but said he could not give us the replacement cost of the entire unit and set up a call back with Francisco. We looked at several options. After some additional research, we upgraded the original recommendation and opted for an even more efficient system. Overall, with Francisco help, we were able to get a much better system at a cost less than what we had researched and evaluated. While we consider ourselves well educated and informed, Gary’s never once tried to pressure us or oversell. The system has performed exceptionally and Gary’s has been professional throughout.

We have always had such a great experience with garys!!! We had a new system put in while i was 8 months pregnant! I also had a 23 month old at home! We had our older system checked and it was not working correctly and we had carbon monoxide leaking they caught it and had a new system placed within the week!!! The service was fantastic!!! They guarantee the work and do everything to make sure it’s working correctly!!! Every service tech we had was exceptional!!! I would definitely recommend !!

SCAMALERT! I was having a problem with my furnace coming on but then it would shut off after a few seconds. I called Gary’s. When the technician came I sat in my living room while he looked at the furnace in the hallway. When he was finished he said it was not very good news. He showed me a video that he said was taken of the inside of my furnace. He showed me a picture of what was supposed to be a cracked heat exchanger. He said it was leaking carbon monoxide and could be deadly. He recommended that I replace my furnace and A/C unit-which would cost around $ 6,000. Another option I was given was to do a couple of repairs-costing almost $ 1,000 but that would only buy me another year before I would need to replace the furnace. This false information by Gary’s cost me $ 69. I began calling around to get some quotes for a new heating/air system. Another company came over to give me a quote. When they came in they took the front off the furnace and began looking it over. He sprayed some pressurized air in the furnace. Then he turned the heater on and it worked perfectly. It wasn’t shutting off after a few seconds like it had been before. He said the only thing that was wrong with it was a dirty heat sensor. He also explained to me that if I had a cracked heat exchanger that the fire would be shooting out of the furnace back at me-it wasn’t. I appreciated that they took the time to educate me on what to look for so I wouldn’t be conned again. This company did not charge me a dime and my heater was working just fine again. When I started thinking about the visit by Gary’s I realized that since I didn’t actually watch him run the camera through my furnace, the video/picture he showed me may not have even been my furnace. My father-in-law is HVAC certified so I had him come over and he verified what I was told by the second company. Also, I have a carbon monoxide detector in the hallway just a few feet from the furnace and it has not alarmed even 1 time so I highly doubt that carbon monoxide is being leaked out of the furnace. If you have work done by this company, BEWARE!!! You need to watch them like a hawk and if they recommend costly work to be done, get as many estimates/opinions as you can. 11/24/2014 Edited to add: I received this response from Gary’s Heating and Air when I left a review on Facebook. Gary’s heating and air conditioning, inc Shelly: I am sorry you were not happy with our service. I do understand your frustration when your heater is not working. I looked back at the option sheet for your job and he did give cleaning the flame sensor an option but it was with several other options that was probably overwhelming and confusing. I appreciate your response and the refund of the charge. 10 mins · Like I appreciate that they responded to the complaint and will be refunding the service charge. However, I was not told the only thing I needed to have done was the heat sensor cleaned. I was told either spend $ 6,000 now or spend $ 1,000 now and $ 6,000 next year. And even if I was told that was the only thing needing done was cleaning the heat sensor it still would have cost whatever they charge to clean the heat sensor plus the $ 69 service fee when the other company did all of that for free and without trying to deceive me.
