Lace Lodging is in the same historic building that used to house the Olde World Lace Shoppe. The owners turned the store into three large bed-and-breakfast suites a few years ago. As of spring 2013, they are looking to sell it and fully retire, so things may change in the future. We had a good stay. The location was perfect for what we wanted: it’s within a couple of blocks of the best-known restaurants and the main shopping area in Main Amana. Our suite was at the back of the building and had one large room with a mini-kitchenette(refrigerator but no sink or stove), dining room table, and living area with twin-size daybed, one small room with a queen-sized bed, and one large bathroom. Some of the decorative touches are done with lace from the old store. Breakfast is simple cold cereal and toast made with Amana-style sliced English muffin bread, left in a little kitchen area when you arrive and therefore available whenever you want it. We mostly chose to go out for breakfast. Well-behaved children are very welcome, but they don’t have cribs or similar gear. Our unit has an optional second bedroom with twin beds, and the other two suites also offer twin beds. Parents and groups of friends might keep that in mind though, because it’s often hard to find a place to stay that offers twin beds.
