I am going to review a Catholic Church. Man, this feels weird. Assumption Chapel is a mission church based out of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Tubac. It’s part of the Diocese of Tucson although I had a hard time finding information for it through the Diocese. This is small, one room church. The bathroom is a port-o-potty outside. It has a/c, and might have heat, I can’t say for sure even though I’ve attended mass here a dozen times. Doesn’t matter really, mass usually lasts no longer than an hour and I’ve never felt uncomfortable due to temperature. I mention these things only to give an idea of the size of the building. They have one mass every Sunday at 11:00 am. I can’t remember his name, but usually the same Father says mass. I’m Catholic, was raised Catholic but I’m not a holy roller and am not usually one to say«what a great sermon», but whenever I do attend mass here, afterwords I almost always find myself thinking about what a great message the Priest had today. Musical accompaniment is by a parishioner on acoustic guitar, he is excellent(again, it feels completely weird to review a church). The alter is relatively simple and yet beautiful. Maybe you are visiting Tucson or you live in Tucson or Phoenix and just want to do something different, to have a day of renewal. If so, I highly recommend attending service here. I think non-Catholics will find peace and beauty in the service and music. Type the address into a google. You’ll take exit 48 off of I-19. Take the Frontage Road on the east side of I-19 south to Amado Montosa Rd(this road may or may not be marked… there is a small auto repair shop on the corner). Turn onto Amado Montosa and less than a ¼ mile on the right(south) side of the road is the Chapel. If you continue on Amado Mantosa Rd., and the road is not too washed out from the river, you can see Rex Ranch Resort. Head back north towards Exit 48, cross to the west side of the interstate for Cow Palace then hike Madera Canyon. Or head south to Tumacacori and Tubac.
