La Quinta Inn & Suites Alvarado

5 Stars on a 2 star budget. Simple, efficient and affordable. Very clean rooms and comfortable beds. I love that they are pet friendly and half the price of the holiday inn across the street who also wanted to charge a $ 25 pet deposit. The free breakfast was a wide variety of bagels, waffles, muffins, bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, red potatoes and cereal. There’s something for everyone. The staff was very nice as well. Do not stay here unless you want to be $ 400 for 2 nights! I was charged $ 133 twice on my credit card AFTER I had already paid cash! I have now called multiple times and have been promised a call back and have yet to receive it which makes me question if anyone at that hotel has a clue what they are doing. They couldn’t even find my reservation when I spoke to the «manager» at 8:30 this morning. She promised to call me today and I never heard from her so I called back at 4:30 and was told she was gone and no one could help me to try calling back tomorrow! Horrible customer service!!!

It’s now been 5 days since I left the hotel and was promised a refund and still no call from the manager. I called the corporate office yesterday and if I don’t hear the the hotel today I will be contacting the corporate office again and this time I will be asking for more than the $ 133 the over charged me I will be asking for every penny I paid because I have been round and round with this hotel and they will not help me!

On the plus side, the hotel is very welcoming to pets, which is important to us, and I paid only $ 92 for a suite.
Bed was very comfortable, but there were no extra blanket for someone like my spouse who likes extra covers and the sheets are coarse and a little rough textured for our taste.
Suite is large and clean, but only semi furnished/​semi decorated. This is particularly noticeable because of the huge size of the rooms. Definitely could do with an additional comfortable chair and a credenza or another table, to set out luggage on.
Room has a very strange smell. I opened the windows to air it out, but as soon as they were closed for an hour, the smell returns.
Room A/​C in the living room does not work. Lamps — which are not matched — have only one light bulb (they are made for two) which makes the light level moderate. Curtains are missing some of the the little wands that let you pull them open or closed.
And as a footnote, this js the first time I’ve stayed in any hotel without a clock in the bedroom!
Outdoor pool and hot tub are large and welcoming. Or would be if it wasn’t pouring rain!
I should add that, had I read the text of the previous review instead of just seeing her five stars, I probably would not have booked here. It’s hard to understand why someone would make such serious criticism and then give five stars. On the other hand, our visit has been satisfactory. Definitely no bed bugs.

Had 3 rooms 1/12/13…4-H kids in two rooms covered in bedbug bites a week later! Frustrating thing is that the manager refused to return my repeated calls… wanted to let them know they had a problem. Desk clerk on phone was totally snarky! I am a looooong time Returns member and expect better treatment!
