I love Zach’s, and I often visit it when I’m in town. The food is delicious, and the drinks, though a bit pricey, are very good. Like a lot of people on here have said, the wait time for food could be shorter, but it’s worth it! I’ve only had one bad experience with a server, and I haven’t seen her back since… the other servers I’ve had have been incredibly personable and friendly. This may not be my number one choice of restaurant in Altoona, but it’s definitely one of my favorites!

Great boneless bites, tried the bbq and they were outstanding. The fries were really good too

You’d think I’d learn my lesson with this place… finally have! After not visiting in at least a month or two, we decided to give Zach’s another shot. We’ve been to Zach’s many times in the last year but the most recent handful of times have definitely been a downhill slope. In the past we have experienced either bad service or beyond slow service. I once had a waitress complain that she had a cold, then proceed to sit down at our table to take our order. Another table we asked for a side of ranch dressing when our food was delivered, our only request of the night, and the waitress«jokingly» told us to stop being a pain in her butt. At my most recent experience, it too 40+ minutes to get our food, but our waitress was very apologetic. I get it, don’t blame the waitress for the kitchen. On top of that, the rest of my group(4 of us) had their food come out and my side, then another 7 minutes for my main dish, a sandwich! I’m not one to cause a scene and ask for management, but if there were ever a time for a waitress to have her manager come out and at least talk to us, it would’ve been then. Clearly no management is present in this establishment. The food is fine, it’s good enough to go, but not outstanding enough to deal with the rest. Unfortunately this is recurring with Zach’s. Sad to say they lost my business until they’re better managed.

Love Zach’s/Joe’s pizza. It’s probably the best pizza in Altoona. The wings – not so much. A few years ago their Nitro Wings were the best in town. They’ve changed the recipe in them though, and in the past year or so they’ve been overcooked, light or even no sauce, etc. They have a huge selection of food, though, and we love their Reubens and Pittsburgh sandwiches. Be prepared to wait 30 – 40 minutes if you order To Go, though. We’ll always get their pizza – just wish they’d do something to improve their wings!

We’re all friends here right? So it’s ok if I’m blunt. I HATE Zach’s. There’s nothing good about this place. Their food is mediocre at best, their drinks are expensive, and every time I ask for a certain liquor they have never heard of it or don’t carry it. The one redeeming quality is fried cauliflower. This place is always packed with the high society people of Altoona(I’m using that term loosely). Pardon my abbreviated language but the clientele is 80% dbag, 10% wanna be dbag, and 10% why am I here again? Last time I was in Altoona, I found myself here to «catch up» with a friend and I despised every minute of it. On a brighter note Champs Sports Bar and Grille opened up down the street and I am seriously hoping, that people realize there are other options in the area and they take advantage of them. I know some people will never leave what they have always known, but seriously GETOUTTHERE and try something new. You can find me on here later so you can thank me for it.

Looking for some good wings and a place to hang out, maybe play some pool, watch a race, golf, football or basketball game? Wing night is Tuesdays from 7p to 12a, they’re about 40 cents apiece depending on how many you get. (Update) wing specials on Sunday from noon to 10. Great drink specials. I stopped in for the wings and stayed for the atmosphere. Very Friendly and fast service, cold beers and daily drink specials. The wings are large, meaty, with the sauce almost dry — someone has been doing research and nearly perfected the Buffalo Wing formula. Order the originals or garlic wings and get a cup of nitro(sauce) on the side Definitely a must-try stop, but not the easiest place to find. But well worth it. I leave fully satisfied every time. Now on my twentieth visit. This is the type of restaurant that would work anywhere. The closest resemblance to any restaurant chain would be Buffalo Wild Wings. It resembles Champs in State College, but it’s friendlier and the wings are 10 times better. The place is large and airy. Even though there is smoking allowed it doesn’t linger near because of the high ceilings and high speed fans.(update — smoking no longer allowed) There are pool tables, a pinball machine, big screens and a TV for every third person at the bar. The staff is very cordial and will hand you the remote. Try that at Champs.
